Newly generated ships
« on: May 18, 2009, 11:24:06 PM »
Now tell me this is not so very wrong for a starting race.

Code: [Select]
Gearing class Destroyer Escort    6600 tons     532 Crew     1153 BP      TCS 132  TH 800  EM 0
6060 km/s     Armour 3-31     Shields 0-0     Sensors 6/6/0/0     Damage Control Rating 4     PPV 10
Annual Failure Rate: 87%    IFR: 1.2%    Maintenance Capacity 437 MSP    Max Repair 168 MSP
Magazine 658

Magneto-plasma Drive E7 (10)    Power 80    Efficiency 0.70    Signature 80    Armour 0    Exp 5%
Fuel Capacity 200,000 Litres    Range 77.9 billion km   (148 days at full power)

Size 1 Missile Launcher (10)    Missile Size 1    Rate of Fire 10
Missile Fire Control FC56-R1 (1)     Range 1.7m km    Resolution 1
Demolisher Anti-missile Missile (658)  Speed: 44,800 km/s   End: 9.6m    Range: 25.7m km   WH: 1    Size: 1    TH: 149 / 89 / 44

Active Search Sensor S168-R1 (1)     GPS 168     Range 1.7m km    Resolution 1
Thermal Sensor TH1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km
EM Detection Sensor EM1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km

Missile to hit chances are vs targets moving at 3000 km/s, 5000 km/s and 10,000 km/s

Those Anti-missiles are just very wrong.

Oh I don't know.  Looks like you spent starting research a generation further than I did for engine tech than I did.  Active sensor suite is a little myopic compared to the powered envelope for the missiles for my taste.  Good magazine capacity.  Useful speed.  Overall looks to be a sound ship.

I'm working up a new campaign as well and this is my starting DE

Code: [Select]
Coontz class Destroyer Escort    4000 tons     354 Crew     1093.3 BP      TCS 80  TH 96.6  EM 0
3450 km/s     Armour 1-22     Shields 0-0     Sensors 1/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 3     PPV 5
Annual Failure Rate: 42%    IFR: 0.6%    Maintenance Capacity 512 MSP    Max Repair 472 MSP
Magazine 339

Ion Eng (mil) E7.8 ARM-1 (4)    Power 69    Efficiency 0.78    Signature 24.15    Armour 1    Exp 12%
Fuel Capacity 150,000 Litres    Range 86.5 billion km   (290 days at full power)

PD mk1 launcher (5)    Missile Size 1    Rate of Fire 10
PD Missile Fire Control FC105-R1 (1)     Range 3.2m km    Resolution 1
AMM mk1 (339)  Speed: 33,600 km/s   End: 1.5m    Range: 3m km   WH: 1    Size: 1    TH: 179 / 107 / 53

Active Search Sensor S315-R1 (50%) (1)     GPS 315     Range 3.2m km    Resolution 1

ECM 10

Missile to hit chances are vs targets moving at 3000 km/s, 5000 km/s and 10,000 km/s

You're right about the sensors. That is like point-blank range for missiles. The tech (and ship) were both generated randomly by Aurora. I don't think I've ever had a starting race pull up engines better than Ion before though.

Ah!  I should have realized that the tech base was randomly generated.
