Oh, good to know that angel of the issue as well. I am now retooling, so maybe I will just build new ships instead and keep my old ships as reserves. The changes I did to the engines don´t really do to much difference.
Thanks for your input too Father Tim!

Something to keep in mind is that replacing the engines (especially on a fast ship) can frequently cost more than building an entirely new ship.  Unless you have a well-trained or experienced crew you wish to hang on to, it may be better to scrap the existing ship and build a new one from scratch.

Thanks to you as well Brian.
One more piece in the big puzzle that fits. :)

Oh, thank you very much. I had hoped that would be a way.
Will it be any difference in retool time if I prefabricate the engines?
The retool time is based on the difference in the designs between what the shipyard is currently building and what you want to be built.  Having ship components will make no difference in the shipyard retool time.  It will however speed up the refitting of the individual ships.

This is done with a refit.  First, copy your design and update the engines and components.  Retool your shipyard to the new design.  Then, from the shipyard management tab, choose the retooled shipyard and select "refit" from "old design" to "new design."  Queue them up, and await your shiney new ships.

Hi again gamers!

I have a small fleet and now my researchers have developed a new engine.
I know I can change the current design and put in the engine.
But is it also possible to upgrade components on an already deployed ships?
Or am I stuck with the current design on those ships?
