Will NPRs invade?

I went about 5 pages back and found the thread where Steve introduced computer controlled races. From what I saw there it looks like an NPR will slowly expand its empire and if hostile it will fight you when it has expanded to a system you are in, but my question is will it actively seek out systems you control, destroy your fleets, invade your colonies, and eventually take your homeworld even if its nearest colony system is 10 jumps away?

I am assuming from what I read NPRs won't invade but I just want to check in case. I think I have been playing this game wrong all this time. If this isn't in their coding now is it planned in the near future?

I don't think that Steve has NPR Troop Transport logic in yet so I would say that they will not invade with troops but they definitely will blow stuff up
