3rd February 3120 2140UST Dragon Lead, Hushnak System
As he opened the Strikegroup frequency, Digon Bolt thought to himself, ‘here we go again.’
‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, execute Plan Alpha.’

Plan Alpha meant that the 2 GOLF class cruisers had continued to close without support and Bolt’s fighters would fire 2 squadron’s worth of Arrows at each of them.
6 minutes later both GOLF’s were expanding clouds of debris and Bolt opened the strike frequency again.  ‘Well done Dragon Strike, continue to close on reatreating main group, expect to be in range at 0022UST 4 Feb.’
As the strike group continued to chase down the retreating Hushnak ships, Bolt opened a low priority message that had been forwarded to him by Fleet Flag.

The last line made Bolt snort, ‘I wonder if Intel will actually get it right this time.’

4th February 3120 0022UST Dragon Lead, Hushnak System

‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, OGRE, DRAGON sqns target SLIBH, WYVERN sqn target IASC.  Fire when locked.’
Bolt consulted his TACSIT, the missile run from the 3 remaining squadrons with ordinance should take 4 minutes.  A small enough time to continue to close to ensure accurate strike assessment.
‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, continue to close for strike assessment.’

4th February 3120 0026UST Dragon Lead, Hushnak System
Bolt’s TACSIT changed status as the SLIBH and the IASC exploded.
‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, targets destroyed return to home plate.’

Feeling bone weary and aware that his fighters would require at least another 2 strikes to kill the last Hushnak mobile units, Bolt tried to rest as his fighter turned to make the long trip back to the carriers.

4th February 3120 1358UST Dragon Lead, Hushnak System

‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, execute Plan Golf.’
As he watched the missiles race away from his strike group yet again, Bolt glanced at the targeting tab of his TACSIT to ensure that the Plan Golf had been properly executed; with his crews on the verge of exhaustion, a mistake was always possible.
Bolt was pleased to see that the FOSCADH, 3 SLIBHS and an IASC had all been correctly targeted.

4th February 3120 1403UST Dragon Lead, Hushnak System

‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, all targets destroyed, return to home plate.’
As his fighters turned for home, Bolt consulted his TACSIT again.  If their intelligence was correct, the Hushnak Navy only mobile units were the 2 IASC class destroyers running for their home world.

4th February 3120 2241UST Flag Bridge BB Cymru Hushnak system

As he watched 7 squadrons of fighters begin to land on his carriers, Chief Space Marshal Trahayme Mille opened the channel to the fighter group lead.
‘Fleet Flag to Dragon Lead, well done, we’ll let the last two destroyers run for a while.  Stand your crews down until 0400 6th Feb.’
The obviously tired voice of Digon Bolt came over the channel.  ‘Dragon Lead acknowledges Fleet Flag.’

Mille consulted the flag TACSIT, there were 2 remaining IASC destroyers and what appeared to be 10 bases in orbit around Hushnak.  7 of the bases were of the 13200 tonne AVALON class, the other 3 were 12900 tonne DEMOLISHER class.  His fleet had nearly destroyed the entirety of the Hushnak Navy.  Now all he had to do was crack the final perimeter.  The next fighter strike would be launched at 0630 on 6th Feb.

3rd February 3120 1304UST Dragon Lead, Hushnak System

As his fighters approached the enemy again, Digon Bolt consulted his TACSIT display.  The closest targets were two destroyers, a BAD and a TAMOCH that were the only survivors of the destroyer group they hit in the last strike.

‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Flight, ORC squadron to target BAD, OGRE squadron to target TAMOCH. Fire when ready.’

The TACSIT updated as the two nominated squadrons fired their missiles.

As he waited the four minutes for the missiles to reach their target he reviewed the latest intel update.

3rd February 3120 1408UST Dragon Lead, Hushnak System
The two lead destroyers had been annihilated at 1308 and now the fighter strike was closing on the main enemy group of the remaining OINSREACH, 10 cruisers and 4 destroyers.

‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, fire on designated targets.’

Again the TACSIT updated as the strike group fired its remaining missiles at the OINSREACH and 3 SLIBH cruisers.  The fighter group began to circle to assess the results of their fire.  Bolt expected the missiles would take 2 minutes to reach their target.

3rd February 3120 1410UST Dragon Lead, Hushnak System

The TACSIT displayed the satisfying icons of another 4 destroyed targets and Digon Bolt opened the strike group frequency.  ‘Well done Dragon Strike, return to home plate.’

As the strike headed for their carriers, Bolt continued to monitor his TACSIT and then something unexpected happened.

‘Dragon Lead to Fleet Flag, enemy group has split, 2 GOLF cruisers have continued and a FOSCADH cruiser, 4 SLIBH cruisers and 4 IASC destroyers appear to be retreating.’

As he settled down for the return leg, Bolt thought to himself, ‘Maybe we’ve finally started to affect their morale.’

2nd February 3119 1002UST Dragon Lead
Space Commodore Digon Bolt opened the strikegroup frequency ‘Execute Dragonfire Alpha’.

The Drangonfire Alpha fire plan involved 74 fighters from the strikegroup opening each firing at an individual FAC.  The were several other plans but they were covering various eventualities but it appeared that none of them were required.

60 secs later the 444 Bolt missiles arrived and after the glare of thermonuclear explosions had died done, all that remained were 74 wrecks.

Digon Bolt opened the Fleet command frequency ‘Fleet Flag, this is Dragon Lead, enemy destroyed returning to base plate.’

A few seconds later the voice of CSM Mille came over the frequency. ‘Fleet Flag acknowledges, well done Dragon Strike.’

Bolt selected the strike frequency and spoke ‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, return to base plate, Fleet Flag sends well done.’

As he settled down for the 2hr 50mins transit back Bolt watched his tactical display as the strike shaped their course back to Carrier Group #1.

2nd February 3119 1302UST Dragon Lead

After a quick turnaround, Dragon Strike were back in space again.  Opening the strike group frequency, Digon Bolt toke a deep breath before explaining why they had launched so quickly. ‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, the JAVELINS we despatched were just a distraction, the main threat is still the 24 enemy warships heading our way.  For this strike our primary target will be the 3 OINSREACH class cruisers.  We are the main striking arm of the fleet and we have a busy few days ahead of us.  Dragon Lead out.’

2nd February 3119 1841UST Dragon Lead

Digon Bolt watched as the missiles from his 9 squadrons arrived.  After the display cleared, 2 OINSREACH were destroyed and remaining ship appeared to be heavily damaged.

‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, return to base plate.’

‘Dragon Lead to Fleet Flag, 2 OINSREACH destroyed, remaining OINSREACH heavily damaged.’

‘Fleet Flag acknowledges.’

3rd February 3120 0457UST Dragon Lead

Digon Bolt watched as 4 of his squadrons fired at the 2 ALAINN class cruisers that had just entered range.  As planned the strike the continued on towards the Main Group of enemy warships.  The plan was to ignore the closer group of 7 destroyers that were offset from the strike group’s line of advance.  After a run of 2 minutes Bolt watched as the 2 ALAINNs exploded under a blizzard of missiles.  Almost immediately afterwards a change in the TACSIT caught Bolt’s attention.

‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, Destroyer Group has changed course, it appears that they have detected us.  Standby for new targeting priority.’

Bolt thought quickly and came up with a new plan.

‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, new target plan has been sent via TACSIT, OGRE, DRAGON, ORC, HORNET, DEVIL squadrons to engage OVERLORD 001, SNIPER 005, SNIPER 006, BAD 005, BAD 006 respectively.’

The TACSIT flashed as each squadron lead acknowledged the change of targets.

3rd February 3120 0511UST Dragon Lead

The TACSIT updated the display with 5 new wrecks and Bolt opened the strike frequency, ‘Dragon Lead to Dragon Strike, targets destroyed, well done everyone, return to base plate.’

‘Marshal, new detection!’

As his operations officer continued the report Mille’s head stapped up from the Fleet admin order he was reviewing.

‘Contacts are two AN GLEAS class suspected survey ships, range 1.5 billion kms, bearing between 225 and 235 from fleet.’

Mille quickly reviewed the data on the AN GLEAS class and decided that they could be ignored for now.  ‘There is a long tail chase to catch those ships, maintain course, we’ll deal with these low threat ships once we have eliminated any warships in the system.’

‘Operations copies, orders relayed to fleet.’

‘Marshal, 2 contacts.  Surface colony detected on third moon of planet Alpha one.  New AN GLEAS class detected bearing 010, range 1.5 billion km.’

‘Understood, looks like we have a good intercept geometry for the AN GLEAS, Cruiser Sqn #2 is ordered to alter course and engage.  Mark the colony and continue to monitor, we’ll deal with it once we have captured the home world.’

1st February 3120 1116UST Flag Bridge BB Cymru Hushnak system

‘Marshal, Sensors, multiple targets detected around Hushnak Home World.’

Mille turned towards his fleet sensor officer, ‘Understood, I want a full count as soon as possible.’

‘Marshal, Sensors, Standby By.’

As the minutes rolled by Mille occupied himself by trying to count to 10 in the language of Deaer’s  minority Saes people.

‘Marshal, Sensors, at 1331UST, 34 individual have been identified.  All targets are listed on your station.’

Mille looked down and inspected the list.  It appeared that there were 24 warships and 10 orbital bases.  The warships consisted of three 19800 tonne OINSREACH, two 13200 tonne ALAINN, seven 13200 tonne SLIBH, two 13200 tonne GOLF, four 6600 tonne IASC, three 6600 tonne BAD, two 6600 tonne SNIPER and one of 6600 tonne FOSCADH, OVERLORD and TAMOCH.
The bases were three 12900 tonne DEMOLISHER and seven 13200 tonne AVALON.

Opening the fleet-wide command channel, Mille addressed his ships COs, ‘This doesn’t look like anthing we can’t handle, the fleet will continue to close.  As planned we will start with fighter strikes once in range.’

SITREP: AT 0432, CRUISER SQN #2 DESTROYED ONE TIMES AN GLEAS SURVEY SHIP.  TWENTY FOUR TIMES WARSHIPS HAVE LEFT HUSHNAK ORBIT AND HAVE BEGUN TO CLOSE ON THE FLEET.  ANALYSIS SUGGESTS ….
Mille was reading the overnight situation report when he was interrupted by a call from the sensor officer.

‘Marshal, Sensors, new contact, new class designate JAVELIN.  Mass appears to be 1000 tonnes attempting to discriminate the number of contacts.’

‘Sensors, acknowledged.’

Mille continued to read the SITREP
….ANALYSIS SUGGESTS THAT THE WARSHIPS ARE SPLIT INTO FOUR GROUPS.  LEAD GROUP CONSISTS OF EIGHT DESTROYERS (FOUR TIMES BAD, TWO TIMES SNIPER, ONE TIMES OVERLORD AND ONE TIMES FOSCADH).  MAIN GROUP CONSISTS OF ALL CRUISER WARSHIPS EXCEPT TWO TIMES GOLF.  THIRD GROUP CONSISTS OF TWO TIMES GOLF.  FINAL GROUP CONSISTS OF REMAINING DESTROYERS.

‘Marshal, Sensors, new groupd consists of 74 Javelins moving at 6000 km/s.

‘Sensors, understood.’
Mille opened the fleet wide-command channel again.  ‘These FACs are too slow to catch us if we decide to run. Carrier Group #1 first strike will be against the Javelins.’

Mille watched the green acknowledgment icons on his display as all of the task group commanders confirmed receipt of his orders.

Mille consisted his mission system to see who would be leading the strike.  Selecting the appropriate private channel, he waited until Space Commodore Bolt opened the channel with a ‘Strike Group Commander Space Commodore Bolt speaking Sir.’

‘Digon, are your pilots good to go?’

‘Absolutely Sir, I have a good mix of combat seasoned and new pilots, we won’t let you down Marshal.’

‘I’m sure you won’t, good hunting, Fleet Flag out.’

30th January 3120 0515UST Flag Bridge BB Cymru Gliese 205 system
Chief Space Marshal Trahayme Mille looked around the flag bridge as his staff bustled around and finalised the pre jump checks and issued final orders to the rest of the fleet.  He opened a channel to the bridge and the face of Deputy Space Marshal Parry appeared on his display.
‘Bridge here’
‘Is the ship ready Garanhan?’
‘Yes Sir, just give the word.’
‘Good, I’ll be addressing the fleet we’ll jump as soon as I finish, Flag out.’

Selecting the fleet wide communications channel, Mille spoke again ‘Attention in the Fleet this is the Flag.  As soon as I finish this transmission, BB Div #1 will lead the assault on the Hushnak system, we have no idea what we will face but expect everyone from the lowliest rating to the highest senior officer to perform with skill and courage.  For Cymru!’
Closing the channel Mille thought to himself that the battle cry was a little overdone but it should have had the required effect on most of the fleet.

30th January 3120 0515UST+30secs Flag Bridge BB Cymru Hushnak system
As the Cymru’s communications and sensors came back on line, Mille searched the display for any hostile icons.  There was nothing in sight.
As the jump point was clear the remainder of the fleet would jump in unmolested.  Next to arrive should be Cruiser Sqn#2 then Cruiser Sqn #1 and finally Carrier Group #1.
After the rest of the fleet arrived, Mille opened the fleet wide channel ‘Execute Alpha-1.’
Plan Alpha 1 was a direct advance on the suspected Hushnak home world that appeared to be the fifth world around the B component; however, there also appeared to be a colony on the seventh planet.  The colony would be ignored until the Home World had been subjugated.
As his fleet formed up and headed into the system, Mille thought to himself ‘well lets see how smoothly I can conquer an entire planet.’
