Title: Wasteland 2
Post by: Hawkeye on March 17, 2012, 02:40:33 PM
The Wasteland RPG from back in the 80s was one of the first computer games I played and I have been going back and firing it up for a playthrough every other year or so.

Now, Bryan Fargo, finally fed up with publishers telling him, "there is no market for that type of game" has gone public funding and put his Wasteland 2 project up at Kickstarter.

He´s bringing the "old gang" (Mike A. Stackpole (I had no idea, he was part of the original Wasteland design team) and Alan Pavlish) together.

The minimum 900.000$ were in about 36 hours after Kickstarter went up, currently at 1.25 mio, which means a larger game. At 1.5 mio, Wasteland 2 will be ported to Mac OS and Linux. After that, who knows?

Have a look at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2

This Kickstarter thing is realy taking off.

Jordan Weisman, the creator of Shadowrun, is now asking fans for funding for a 2D, turn-based, single player Shadow Run RPG.

Damn, I´m gonna be bloody short on cash this month :)

Just started up Steam (to play a little Civ 5) and their splash page informed me that Wasteland 2 came out yesterday!

Includes Wasteland 1 and deluxe edition includes Bard's Tale.

Haven't bought it yet, though - maybe after I get this release out the door at work :)

I'd recommend it.  Very fun so far, definitely a nice call back to the good old CRPGs like fallout.  It's a bit buggy, but nothing too serious (so far  :P )

I enjoy it as well. I am not very far in game, but so far it is good. Only thing that I don't like very much is that I am unable to divide my team on travel map. I believe that it was possible in Wasteland 1.

Was a big fan of the original, now thanks to you all I have a new game to take up my time :D.  Just started playing but enjoying it, I also have been playing Shadowrun: Dragonfall, another nostalgic game.
