A book called 'Seeker', by Jack McDevitt.
Sadly, you'd have to read the book in order to see why I'd think you'll be interested, as that bit is the... er, big reveal.
But its a good book, anyhow.

I read a Jack McDevitt book recently called Chindi which was quite a good read. I'll have a look for Seeker.

I havn't met a Jack McDevitt book I didn't like. And read more than twice. I've read most of 'em - havn't gotten to Deepsix yet...
But Seeker is a very good book. ...it can.. well, it goes into the hwole 'What can humanity survive?' thing.
