« on: October 13, 2011, 02:40:38 AM »
3rd January 2042
The EU launches the Escort, a fourth Encounter class DD. Refits begin immediately to update the ship to the MkIB design.

20nd January 2042
Escort completes refitting work, and joins the 1st Frigate Squadron, which departs for exercises.

23rd January 2042
The NAU launches another Benson class FF, the Gridley. It joins the 2nd Frigate Squadron.

27th January 2042
The PRC launches a second Type 521A class Troop Transport, the Rensheng.

3rd February 2042
A new civilian shipping company goes public in the EU; the Khan Colony Corporation is formed at a time when there is an increasing amount of reliance on the civilian sector to fuel the growth in the outer system.

16th February 2042
The IRC launches its first warship, a Rajput class Destroyer. Much larger than other ships currently in service, the Rajput is the IRC’s late entry into warship building. While somewhat lacking defensively, with point-defence systems only equivalent to the EU’s Encounter class Frigates, the Rajput mounts the most powerful offensive weaponry currently in service. A second ship is over 60% complete and due to launch in June. The IRC is currently also developing a smaller design as a dedicated escort.

The missile designs for the ship are still under development, but will consist of 3 missiles built around the same frame; the P-500 missile, the P-500/E anti-radiation missile and the P-500/R active homing missile.

24th February 2042
The IRC completes negotiations with the SAC to sell two of its old A1/F cargo ships and a single A1/C colony ship to the new nation. The IRC, despite its large civilian fleet, also has the largest state owned commercial transport capability, over half of which is composed of outdated designs like the A1 series. For the SAC, this sale provides the ability to finally being expanding beyond Earth, as their own indigenous space program is being held up by the need to build facilities and convert industry.

2nd March 2042
The IRC finishes development of the P-500 series missiles for its Destroyers.

23rd February 2043
The PRC completes development of technology for Marine troops, giving them the first all-terrain ground forces capability of any nation. The NAU is pursuing a similar program, but it is unlikely to be complete until 2045.

4th March 2043
The SAC completes conversion of its industry to TN technology, and turns its attention to developing its space infrastructure. So far most of the SAC’s efforts have been on Earth, with the exception of the small enclave on Mars.

18th March 2043
Increasing unrest on Mars causes the PRC move a further 2 Mobile Infantry battalions to the planet. Chinese internal security has also received worrying reports of transnational independence movements on the red planet, which is home to close to 80 million people, of which just under half are Chinese. Zhong Xiao Cao Yong Huan, who is in charge of the PRCs intelligence and internal security affairs, concludes that these are the result of an attempt at a slightly more relaxed approach to internal security on the colonies, which is concluded to have backfired, and will be corrected over the coming year.

23rd March 2043
The EU’s President, John Fraser, is killed in a freak traffic accident. His Vice-President, Elin Anglert, takes over leadership of the EU until elections next spring. While there is some suspicion that his death was intentional, no proof is ever found.

An EAF research team completes development of Ion Engine technology.

12th April 2043
The IRC launches a third Rajput class Destroyer, the Ranvir.

17th April 2043

23rd June 2043
The NAU launches a pair of Benson class Frigates, the Murray and the Bristol. They form the 3rd Frigate Squadron.

25th July 2043
The EAF launches its first Sydney class Destroyer. At close to 9000 tons, the Sydney class becomes the largest military ships in service, with capabilities to match, although the current generation of missiles limits its engagement range to less than the designed maximum. A new generation of the Yari missile will be developed once the ion engine technology can be adapted for missile use.
