I couldn't find a source for the image, but the right guy is a Russian elite perhaps a paratrooper, left obviously fought in the great patriotic war, just look at how much patriotism he has pinned to him!

Naval Infantry (equivalent of Marines) also wear the Telnyashka, but I believe the light blue beret means you're correct and he's airborne

Thats the Telnyashka, worn by Russian Navy, Naval Infantry (Marines), Airborne, and Spetznaz (Special Forces)

the light blue Beret is either Spetznaz or Airborne, and on closer inspection the right hand badge does look like a Spetsnaz one.

Naval Infantry wear a black Beret, and Navy don't wear beret's but caps.

And I've just been told that normal Paratroopers have a darker blue beret so this guy is Spetznaz Paratrooper, learn something everyday

I just learned something too. Btw I found that image on the world of tanks forum, nobody there could identify the guy either. Maybe if it was the Russian forum somebody would know.

The old guy is probably telling the other one how the special forces in his day didn't need to jump out of airplanes. They hit the target by crawling through the snow! Uphill! Both ways!

Both ways? The Russian Army never retreated. They held every inch of ground.

hmm, he seems to have 3 orders of Lenin, but I don't see a hero of the soviet union, looks like an order of the Great Patriotic war in there as well, I can see a victory over the Germans  medal, also looks like he has the 20, 30, 40, 50 years since victory medals, like I said the Russians need to learn the concept of ribbons,  since they give medals for pretty much everything some of their older folks are in danger of collapsing under the weight!

Actually another interesting thing is they don't seem to use medal precedence since he's got some every child wins a prize sorts of medals above and to the right of some actual gallantry medals,  though i suspect when you have so many it probably becomes a game of where can i fit it!

Neither do we. If I add a glorious mustache as profile image, I'd be half way there.

Although the medal I am most proud of is the "survived the 10 post captcha of hell"  ::)
