Max Pop

(1/1)

boggo2300:
Ok,  so the max pop of a planet is calculated from it HI, what happens when the HI is negative? ie for moons or non life supporting balls of rock,  I know you are then limited to non-habitable colonisation in domes up to I think it's large colony? size,  I've been putting the max pop size as zero in those cases as I'm pretty sure you only need to worry about max pop on habitable bodies, and a negative max population looks kinda silly!

Am I right?

Erik L:
I think you mean OI. OI is floored at zero.

boggo2300:
I do mean OI it's still before 8 in the morning, and I've only had one coffee :P

OK, so OI itself is floored at 0,  that works,  Yay for the -4 for vacuum then!!

OK,  something else on table 119 you list carbon dioxide only on v, t, f type bodies,  however Mars obviously a b type, and according to Wikipedia 'The atmosphere of Mars consists of about 96% carbon dioxide, 1.93% argon and 1.89% nitrogen along with traces of oxygen and water.'

which I'd say definitely nominates it to have CO2 as it's Atmospheric Gas.

AAAND, Mineral abundance,  am I correct that this is basically flavour after it gives you the MI Modifier and Rating for the Exploitation value (as in the fact that Industrial Metals is abundant doesn't really have much game effect after the MI and Exploitation have been calculated)

Erik L:
Re: Barren
That can be modified, or planetary types expanded.

Re: Abundance
The word category is mostly flavor text. Though it can be useful to say "Planet X has a motherlode of radioactives." giving you an idea of its relative richness.
