Renaming alien ship classes?

When I encounter new ships from the NPR I'm currently warring with they no longer get assigned nice names like Tooth or Claw. Instead they are getting "Alien Class #213" or somesuch and their contacts get no class name displayed on the system map (ships only get "001" instead of "Tooth 001"). Is there any way to rename a whole class of alien ships?

Steve, I see a button for renaming individual ships - is there a way to change the whole class name?

I was under the imprssion that would rename the whole class.
Btw there's also the option to display the same class name that the NPR actually uses, I forget where that option is.

It's a checkbox along the top of the intelligence screen

Is that the "use real" box? It doesn't seem to change any of the existing names?

There is a Rename Ship button (first of the three Ship-related buttons) and a Rename Class button (first of the five Class-related buttons). You can also renumber the ships with the new class name using the Renum Ships button.

Ah, the class buttons must be cut off by reduced height windows. Thanks.

Yeah, I think that use real box only works for new classes you discover after enabling it, so the old ones will keep their auto-assigned names.
