FSA Press - Key void colonies are now garrisoned.

The Durban Times, along with FARS has published an article dealing with FSA deployments in "Void" (I.E. outside of earth orbit) of the Vrystaat Weermag (VSW).   The FSA has placed garrison units on more then one world to secure claims and defend major colonies.

When asked, the FSA high command stressed that as Garrison units they are of a defensive nature, and more intended for crowd control.

Several russian aircraft manufacturers, most notably Mikoyan, Ilyushin, Sukhoi, Yakulev and Tupolov, have been working together on a new airframe. This new design is space capable and will form the basis for several models of spacegoing patrol vessels ordered by the russian state. There has been very few details released, except that the designs will be up to 500 tons.

Different manufacturers have been putting in prototypes for evaluation by the navy in a number of categories like fighter, scout and multi-role crafts over the past few months. The russian aerospace industry seems to have made a smooth transition into the transnewtonian era.

Several other countries were quick to express interest in buying RC manufactured patrol crafts. The official statement so far is that all manufacturing capacity is currently in use to fulfil contracts with the russian navy. But the RC is positive to eventually offering models to the international market as well.

While several prominent RC leaders like Aleksis Klimov have been strong supporters of the Outer Space Treaty in spirit as well as in letter and debated against militarization of space the russian navy seems to have won this round. With threats from the Red Duncanite terrorists proven to be real as well as NAU intentions with their militarization of space remaining unclear Klimov has been unusually silent on the matter lately.

Official press release

FSA sensors detected a unknown Red Duncanite ship traveling in the asteroid belt.  The VSS Charlene Wittstock and the VSS Amin Gemayel where undergoing training nearby.  They were vectored by the sensors to the craft.  The ship was offered a chance to surrender, but it refused, and the two patrol craft then fired several shots.  Even when damaged the ship refused to surrender, and changed it vector towards earth.  This gave the Navy no choice but to eliminate the ship.

The FSA did gain valuable information.  It also give public notice that inner belt may have mines.

We would like to offer our sincere congratulation to the FSA. Space is becoming safer every day. Could we know where that minelayer was intercepted, so that we might attempt to avoid areas that might be mined? Where any mine laid during the engagement?

I think we should establish a permanent commission to share information on the Red Duncanites.

NAU analyst Dr. Grahams would like to elaborate a pact that respects the autonomy and security of all nations while protecting our peoples.

1. All live confrontations with Red Duncanites will be disclosed to all nations engaged in the struggle against interplanetary terrorism. The NAU will freely offer this information unconditionally, with the expectation that this trust will be returned.

2. Any unprovoked and sudden attack by Red Duncanite terrorists will be aided by all ships of any nation that is within range to respond, unless the action is a hopeless cause or the ships are urgently needed to defend elsewhere. This analyst believes that the NAU has already demonstrated their commitment to this idea and believes it to be a common-sense approach against a common enemy.

Thank you for listening.

RC Fleet Management Officer Keryakov points out that the "hopeless" clause is kind of shady and up to interpretation. We however agree to cooperation against hostile threats to security in the solar system.

RC Fleet Management Officer Keryakov points out that the "hopeless" clause is kind of shady and up to interpretation. We however agree to cooperation against hostile threats to security in the solar system.

Dr. Grahams would like to declare several clear possibilties for a "hopeless" effort-

A. If reinforcement cannot be expected to be made in time to influence the battle, but would only avenge the fallen.

B. If, even with timely reinforcement, the enemy would still possess a greater than trivial advantage in combat-effective tonnage.

Addendum: (I propose we define this as a case where the estimated combat-effective enemy fleet tonnage would still outmass remaining combat-effective allied fleet by 20% or more. If, say, half the meson tubes on a fleet are out, that counts as roughly half the actual tonnage being combat-effective tonnage. It's an open secret that all of our nations have intrasolar monitoring arrays excellent enough to gauge the proximate amount of damage done to any fleet. Dishonesty can be known swiftly-being coy or less than truthful would be quickly obvious.)

Addendum Two: In the event that a significant technological weaponry gap appears evident between our nations and an enemy, we will adjust this requirement to a 20% disparity of estimated hull damage per second each fleet can provide. This clause is not to be invoked slightly and is intended to cover the case of extrasolar threats.

Addendum Three In the event of a probable total system extinction scenario, I would release each nation to escort whatever refugees that may exist. The NAU sperm cannon will be made available for reseeding purposes.

C. If the defending nation itself declares an effort to be hopeless, and releases nearby nations from the duty to help.

Why does the FSA love Luna?

August 14th, 2103 Tycho City (the FSA settlement on Luna) was a sleepy outpost of 10,000 people, carrying out scientific experiments.
December 25, 2103 Tycho City, with massive investment from private FSA investors, has grown into the size of Tehran, with over 8 million settlers.

(OOC: I never seen a settlement grow so fast, guess there was pent up demand.. :o :o :o.   Also, there will be FSA elections since both Luna and Mars hit the 4 million mark this year)

As the new year celebrations approach in Moscow the russian people can look back at many achievements during the year. Scientific discoveries are made at a rate never before believed possible, colonies established and space fighters flying between planets. A whole generation of russian youths are now dreaming of a future in space.

The theme for Klimovs new year speech was how Russia is the guarantor for peace and prosperity in this age when the final frontier is at last opened up to humanity.

(this is the 22nd century, cold-war retro style propaganda posters is the latest fashion for any self-respecting superpower)

In a paper in front of the International Astrophysical Union, JPL Head of Research Elisha Rak read the abstract of her latest paper. "The discovery that large amount of mass is not affected by gravity and inertia as we know it forced us to correct many past observations. The relativist understanding of gravity simply isn't enough to explain those observations. The only way to correct the theory is to suppose that folds in the space-time continuum."

While Prof. Rak assured the audience that talk of FTL travel was premature, people noticed the unusual number of people in dark suits and sunglasses in the auditorium, as well as the unusual delay in the paper's publication.

Terrorists strike again

Another research vessel of the Russian confederation was reported to be wrecked by Red Duncanite mining campaign.
We are awaiting reports from the Russian confederation on confirmation on this attack.

There is a lot of speculation going on about what the next thing coming out of the russian spacecraft factories will be. It is known a number of smaller designs from various manufcturers have been under review by the fleet for some time. But there are also rumours that something bigger may be in the russian plans.

The russian admirality however have been silent, neither confirmation nor denial. Even keeping a straight face when asked by reporters about genetically modified vacuum-breathing sharks with lasers on them.

Russian industry are looking back at yet another successful year. Order stocks are full, to a large extent driven by the space exploration and colonization of new worlds. Production of transnewtonian minerals are up as well as classic industrial goods and oil. The current 5-year plan is already looking to surpass expectations. And of course, the vodka production also increased with new exciting brands like Starfire and the appropriately coloured Red Mars launching this year.

The future is in space and the The Russian Confederation is the path to the future for many around the world. The motherland has extended it's arms, spreading peace, prosperity and socialism 2.0 further than anyone could have imagined just a decade ago.

The trend of learning russian as a second language has accelerated in many countries, but lately especially in the EU. Many are not willing to wait for their own national space program to embrace transnewtonian technology and are instead actively seeking to migrate for the chance to be among the first on a new world. The 22nd century version of socialism is truly international.

Read on for an interview with Aarif, 24. He is telling the story of how his family long ago migrated first from Turkmenistan to a better life in Sweden during the early 2000's.  After "Swexit" in 2021 however they had to relocate again to Germany to keep their EU citizenship. Now he is taking evening classes in russian hoping to be accepted into the RC and once again make the successful move for his family to a more wealthy and prosperous country. Ironically a confederation of which the familys original homeland is now a member state.
