Question: Automated Mine Delivery (Default Orders)
« on: April 26, 2017, 06:04:07 AM »
Hi there,
New to game and the only topic in search for this is 2010, so keen to clarify:

Pick up automated mine from Population &
Deliver automated mine to mining colony

Are these linked to the Civilian / Ind Status page for deliver of Supply and Demand or am I missing the answer to this mechanic?

With thanks.
Wilko

If you want to use the freighters of shipping lines this is correct.

For your own freighters you have to give the instructions through the Task Force window.

So no, they are not linked. The first bit you posted are orders for your own freighters. There has to be auto-mines available. The second bit is to hire civilian liners to haul the auto-miners. Again, they have to be available and the civilians need to have cargo ships.

Thanks for responding :)

I have setup 8 x Freighters in a TF, each Freighter has two standard cargo holds thus can carry 16 AutoMines.
At SOL i have 830 AutoMines

TF Orders:
Default orders:
Pick up automated mine from population
Deliver automated mine to mining colony

Conditional orders
Fuel less than 50%
resupply at Colony

I have designated 12 mining colonies that currently have no automated mines.  Some in SOL some not.

Behaviour:
When given the above order set, the freighters will load AMs, then top at Earth with the message:
"Wokrer #2 Failed to load Automated Mine at Earth.  Please re-schedule the order for this fleet"

Am I expecting wrongly that the order I have set should trigger the ships to start delivering AMs to my colonies?

If not, what am I doing wrong here?

With thanks,
Wilko

I wouldn't use the default orders for something like that. Instead, create the order chain for the Task Group and either cycle the orders, or repeat them until you have what you want where you want it.

Hi all, I'm attempting to work out how to trigger the default order behaviour so I don't need to micro the delivery of the mines.  From Garfunkel's reply I guess this is possible, could anyone help me out there?

AM's are built on Earth. You want them on Mars. Do not use default or conditional orders. Instead, do this:

Refuel at Earth
Load AM at Earth
Unload AM at Mars

then tick the box for "cycle orders"

The cargo group will keep doing that until Earth runs out of fuel or automines. This is the most reliable way to do it.
