Title: Re-arming Fighters
Post by: Octavian30 on April 28, 2010, 09:50:19 PM
I know this is probably answered elsewhere but I can't find it (at work and limited time)

What is the process for re-arming fighters - I have an aircraft carrier - I have a size 5 missile armed fighter - I can launch fighter (I think) - attack then return to carrier - what then is needed to re-arm the fighter? I was thinking a normal missile magazine on the Carrier but in this game the obvious is not always the right way......

thanks

Your mostly there.  Yes, the carrier, base, etc must have a magazine that has has the missiles assigned as the class standard load.  When the fighter is in the hanger the reload clock starts.  Here's the catch for fighters,  you still have to go to the F9 fighter squadron screen to actually load the missiles for the squadron.  The reload clock will advance whether you've done this or not, but until you do this step the fighters will not have missiles actually ready to fire.  You can also go through the F6 ship screens for each individual fighter to load the missiles, but that is an unneccessary level of micro management.

thanks - about to assault my local precursors and scared of losing my 16kt Escort carriers........

I have a fighter that carries a size 5 missile and moves at 11k for about 275t is that a reasonable combo?

How can a fighter with only one size 5 missile possibly be that heavy?

I'm at work so don't have specs - but I only have a 25% Size 5 launcher not the Box Launcher and then there is a Fire Control - Fusion Motor - and I think I have a lot of fuel - 40k litres or more - rather fight at a distance than let the enemy near my carriers
my version with a size 1 missile is like 205t
