You can reasonably fit a Battalion Drop Pod into a fighter sized vessel. It just won't be blindingly fast or that well armored. At 200 tons, it fills 40% of the limit for "fighter" design rules, then you fill 30% with engines (150 tons of engine), add some fuel storage, and set deployment to 0.1, then you should have enough room.

I knew you would say that  :-\ Just that it took some efforts for my fledgling nation to have these 5 fighters/pinnaces and they are useless almost.
You could still use them to deploy Marine Companies.

You cannot split a singular battalion between company sized transports from different ships. You can only do that with the larger units (Brigade sized units) into battalion sized transports.

I have 5 fighters each with a company combat drop pod, it's specified in the cargo/ground units information that their capacity is one battalion.

And yet, they fail to load a mobile infantry battalion, their capacity is deemed insufficient.
