Tactical Intelligence Window
« on: July 17, 2008, 09:06:55 AM »
Can somebody explain exactly how to use it?  The civilian ship center built a colony ship my home system, currently showing as an unknown contact ("Unknown #19 T100 (TP:615) 69km/s") on the system display.

I click the Contacts tab and it is on the list.  I select it and hit the Query ID button and I get the Tactical Intelligence window.

But this area is completely blank. There are no entries, either in Current Class Members of the All Current Contacts tabs.

What should I be doing?

The tactical intelligence window will only show ships and races where you have carried out an active scan. Try detected the civilian ship with an active sensor and see if that fills in the TacIntel window.

Ah, that did the trick.  Thank you. :)  Is it deliberate that only Active Scans show up there?  Because of the possibility of tech data scans?

It's because only active scans can identify the class of a ship, and therefore the original builder

Pehaps active transponder data could be added.
