Ministry of Commerce: Design Contract
« on: June 04, 2011, 10:23:00 AM »
Since no-one offered any design for the freighters and colony ships, I decided to award a extra 100 wealth from my ministry budget to the first corporation to submit a desing for both.

What ministry budget? Anyway, there is a design that has been proposed already in the senate floor by Senator Sasha Gagarin, although I would like to see more cargo handling, that can also be adapted to a colony ship form by replacing the cargo bays with cryogenic transports.

George Payne
Infrastructure Minister

[ooc] I suppose until more people start involvement I could add another character as a corporate entity, I suppose we all can but I won't make any designs for survey [/ooc]

Natalia Ushinov starts of with her brief presentation, using her female charms and Russian accent to at least sway some of the male members of the audience.

I announce the "Jenner", a Freighter with a clear design to haul materials around our solar system, we at Ushiov Designs, understand research is stressed currently with an abundance of component and breakthrough projects. We are not interested in component design and are willing to use the first available commercial engine and civilian grade thermal sensor.

We have put through a design that is practical and allows for the movement of minerals as well as infrastructure. The design is for our solar system only, the range is enough to reach any part of the solar system and back again.

Code: [Select]
Jenner class Freighter    31,250 tons     161 Crew     270.5 BP      TCS 625  TH 250  EM 0
400 km/s     Armour 1-88     Shields 0-0     Sensors 2/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 1     PPV 0
Maint Capacity 5 MSP    Max Repair 16 MSP
Cargo 25000    Cargo Handling Multiplier 5

Nuclear Thermal Engine E1 (4)    Power 62.5    Fuel Use 10%    Signature 62.5    Armour 0    Exp 1%
Fuel Capacity 70,000 Litres    Range 40.3 billion km   (1166 days at full power)

Thermal Sensor TH0.5-2 (1)     Sensitivity 2     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  2m km

Components are as follow
  - 4 Nuclear Thermal Engines
  - 5 Cargo Holds
  - 1 Cargo Handling System
  - 1 Commercial Thermal Sensor
  - 4 Crew Quarters Small
  - 2 Fuel Storage Small
  - 1 Fuel Storage
  - 1 Engineering Space
  - 1 Bridge

This concludes our presentation, I hope it meets your expectations, if there is any further details I would be happy to go over them personally with you. Natalia smile directly at Senator Phan Duc Thoc

Starion Heavy Industries would like to submit the following two designs for colonization ships. The White Star is included  because it not only is capable of colonial transport, though of a more limited ability than the Conestoga, but also could provide a useful income base for the developing space tourism industry.

Code: [Select]
Conestoga class Colony Ship    31,250 tons     241 Crew     1212.5 BP      TCS 625  TH 250  EM 0
400 km/s     Armour 1-88     Shields 0-0     Sensors 1/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 1     PPV 0
Maint Capacity 24 MSP    Max Repair 16 MSP
Colonists 100000    Cargo Handling Multiplier 10

DaZmar Nova E1 (4)    Power 62.5    Fuel Use 10%    Signature 62.5    Armour 0    Exp 1%
Fuel Capacity 15,000 Litres    Range 8.6 billion km   (250 days at full power)

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes

Code: [Select]
White Star class Luxury Liner    31,250 tons     241 Crew     1212.5 BP      TCS 625  TH 250  EM 0
400 km/s     Armour 1-88     Shields 0-0     Sensors 1/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 1     PPV 0
Maint Capacity 24 MSP    Max Repair 16 MSP
Colonists 2500    Cargo Handling Multiplier 10

DaZmar Nova E1 (4)    Power 62.5    Fuel Use 10%    Signature 62.5    Armour 0    Exp 1%

Your design have been forwarded to the sub-comittee for Design Selection. A decision will be taken by tomorrow evening.

While we welcome Starion Heavy Industries's entrepreneurship, we do not believe it is time to select a passenger liner already. We need all our yards to produce heavy duty freighter and colony ships first.

[ooc]OOC:  I'd like to see every single proposed design be entered into the 'Ship Classes' window, and not marked obsolete, so that Civilian shipping lines can build any/all of them.  Which design is eventually picked for Government ships should not limit the range of options available to our (hopefully) many corporate partners.[/ooc]

[ooc]I like that idea, but I'm afraid too many design will start popping up, making it a mess for Detjen.
Also, whenever a new generation of ships is created by a design contract, old ships should be marked as obsolete.[/ooc]

OOC: yea I had that Idea and then worry also,  I thought at first the idea would be neat but realized that we could end up with dozens of ships that are identical except for name.

Should I put these ships into the shipbase even though we dont have the shipyard capacity to build any of those yet?
