Ever have your explorers jumped by random aliens you didn't see coming?  Try these moderately low-tech designs!  (Comments much appreciated)

ECCM-1 (2)         Missile to hit chances are vs targets moving at 3000 km/s, 5000 km/s and 10,000 km/s

These were all designed at Reload Rate 5, and I had full reduced-sized launcher tech, but no box launchers.  Engines for all ships and missiles were MPD.  Warhead strength for the missiles was 5 per MSP, Im not sure about the Agility and Sensor techs at design time.

The Piranha school carries 5 Piranhas, and was intended to help strip armor from larger ships or crit smaller ones, as well as handling large groups of ships, where the arrival times of various waves of missiles sometimes left later missiles without targets.  The Buffaloes were obviously intended as heavy hitters if you found a large target, and would be deployed AFTER a salvo of Piranha schools.

In the shipyards, I have underway two other designs that missed the war, the Hound Class Interceptor, 12 of which would be carried inside the Trafalgar-class carriers.

My brain keeps freezing up on the difference between "moderately low-tech" and "156 300 tons." The largest millitary ship I've ever built at this tech level was only 15,000 tons! How long does it take to make that kind of expansions?

I had a naval yard on continual expansion for a LONG time... kinda forgot about it... at least 10-20yrs.

Low-Tech does not mean small ;)

The main trouble i see is that there's no point to the Trafalgar, the Hound isn't a warship design that needs support outside of rearmament that could be done by colliers.

I'd suggest the following:

*Scale up a sensor for mounting on the Trafalgar, something with 300-400mkm+ range (or more) to take advantage of the Hound fire control
*Reduce the active sensor on the Hound to a small backup at best
*Reduce the Hound's deployment time to 0.1 months
*Design a new engine for the Hound that has increased rather than decreased output multipliers

*Figure out a way to increase the Hound's throw weight, ideally by adding on more high-reduction launchers.

The problem I was having with the Hounds was that their MSP\Deployment time was short enough to make getting them to the war problematic.  AFR is an average, not an absolute.

I had to restart my campaign due to some SM stupidity on my part, and in the reboot I only have 2 extrasolar systems colonized, and they are nowhere near the battle lines.  Was hoping the Trafalgar could work as a Fleet Tanker\Collier\Supply ship as well as carrying the Hounds.

Here is my new Arsenal Armed Collier design, and the updated Hounds.  I haven't actually built any Arsenals yet, no yards free large enough.  Im constantly updating the design as I go.  As of now, there are no yards large enough to build a CV Trafalgar either, so I'll take a closer look at that design.
