Title: Boarding an alien ship
Post by: Nibelung44 on August 02, 2011, 07:40:41 AM
Say I would like to board an alien ship. MUST I use only combat drop pod or troop transport module can do, if the enemy ship is almost halted? This will be the difference between approaching a derelict ship with a single marine company, or a whole brigade of mobile infantry  ;D

To attack an enemy ship you will need the drop pod.  This is true even if it is not moving or destroyed.  With planets it is a bit better as you will have a colony to offload the troops onto.  The pods do work better from what I have heard but are not mandatory.

The basic mechanics of boarding can be found here (it is a little obscure to find)

Thanks, I think I read it once, but the article is so excellent, it was a pleasure to read it again...

I wonder if Steve took the precaution of preventing boarding if there is still a shield on?
