Planet Bombardment from.. nowhere?
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:26:57 AM »
Today my planet has suffered planetary bombardment from. . .  nowhere.  I checked the log events and realized it came from NOWHERE.  Might someone enlighten me here?

Actually, the constant planetary bombardments destroyed some mass drivers.  I have 1 mass driver though.  I have no clue why it started.

Silly question: do you have any active/passive sensors on the planet or in orbit that would detect either ships at range or missiles incoming? Could be somebody chucking missiles at you from outside your detection range.

Beersatron's suggestion is possible, if you have no actives and haven't upgraded your passive sensor network then I guess there could be a ship out of range hitting you. They wouldn't even need active sensors on to shoot at your population.

I did not work on sensors yet.  My colonies have been destroyed.  All of them.  Well, I have to start a new game now.  I'll keep it mind.

the homeworld should have enough passive sensing to pick up missiles at the 5 second to impact mark...

I've taken to aiming most of my mass drivers to Luna (or another close, unpopulated colony), then shooting them to Earth from there.  I've never had a mass driver impact disaster, but it seems the wise course to take.  If something should ever happen to the mass drivers on Earth, I'll only get at most one impact, rather than a whole series of them.

That's an excellent idea...
