The deal sounds good enough, but my wife keeps nagging me about the entire lack of Point Defence weapons. You know how women are, always playing the safe side, eh?
But me, I don't know, see the Insidius got class and the big lasers are just as impressive, as the quick-firing secondary armament. Although I am slightly worry about finding anything to shoot at, seeing that the system does not have any active sensors. Of course I could have a buddy of mine with a sensor flying around in another ship, but you know, I like to be able to go solo as well, so thats a down point for me. maybe if you could add something to the deal here, maybe a small 1mkm sensor would do, so I can at least lock onto targets...
But wait, let me think about. No actually, the Insidius is not my kind of ship. It’s a good ship to punish enemy ships that come in close, say for beam-range defence of a fleet, or at jump points, but I am afraid its not tough enough to close in with missile ships, active PD and passive shields/armor is just not up to that task.
My brother bought a Deception, and while he is generally happy with the ship, he always felt that the different resolutions of the firecontroll and the sensor were a bit awkward. For instance the ship can fire at these nasty FACs at a range of nearly 70m km. That is it could fire at them, if only they were spotted at that range. That brother of mine only stumbles on these tings at a range 6m km. Or rather he does not, as the sneaky buggers just launch they stuff well outside of his detection range and then run away. Keeps making him troubles, with no PD capacity. Might be simpler to keep FCs and Sensors the same resolution, after all what good is targeting enemies that you cant find?
Also Deceptions 12xSlugs look really cool, but they are only controlled by one guidance system. Lets remember the bad guys PD systems allow them to engage a given number of salvos, so splitting the 12 missiles into 2 or 3 salvos instead of one, might be a bit cooler…
