Any chance for one more player to join?

Check the thread in the subforum and pick a deity.

I'm in!

I am, however, traveling a lot for the next few months and might need to take advantage of that "points roll over on missed turns" feature.  I hope not to miss too many, but if I start lagging behind I'll bow out rather than cause too much trouble.

I don't want to accumulate a gigantic pile of turns and then just build an entire continent in one go right at the end. I know this isn't a competitive game, but that might still be annoying. :)

What are the time constraints to post the turn? There would be sessions that participants have to be online so world building is faster?

Any way I live at Greece (GMT+2), if the time world building starts is convenient for me, I am interested to participate.

I am thinking that each player spends their points (or saves them) and submits orders. I go through the orders and apply the changes. I will make a separate subforum to keep everything in one place, along with a master thread for changes. "Turns" will probably start at once a day, or however fast people get their orders in.

At this point, I am thinking kick off will be tomorrow, probably around noon GMT+6. So 7 or 8pm your time. Then interested parties submit their turns and sometime Sunday, I update with what has gone on and so forth.

At the moment, with 3 people (myself included), each would control 3 deities. 4 players would be 2 deities with me taking 1. There does not need to be any cooperation between players.

As for implementing player orders, I will randomly determine an order. I'll probably do this prior to having anyone assigned to the deity. If you miss a turn, your points will accrue and roll over, so you don't lose anything.

Sorry if you have answered elsewhere, but I could not find anything. Where this world building will happen? What experience is needed for it?

I plan on doing it here. Barring any further responses, I plan to start Saturday sometime. No experience is needed.

Basic outline:
Players control one (or more) deities building a world. Everything has a point cost. Initially, building terrain will be the focus, but as races are introduced, interactions can occur with them. The nature of those interactions will also help shape that race's outlook on the deity in question. There are 9 deities that I've established. So optimally, I'd get 8 additional people. Prior to today there's been two people who've shown interest. So that would be 3 each.

I've had a couple people show interest. If there is no one else that wants to join by Friday night, I'll start with the people I have. :)

I thought about doing it solo, but I was playing nice with myself. lol

The players are deities of the setting, hence the world building abilities. And yes, the deity portfolios are set, but not gender or name. Though I'll reserve editorial rights on names :)

I'm using a slightly modified Dawn of Worlds, and backed up with A Magical Medieval Western Society.

This is an interesting idea: crowdsourced world building, in the manner of Galaxy Zoo or Foldit, only for RPGing.  Colour me fascinated. :D

Couple things I forgot.

Each player starts with 8 points.
There is no need to really cooperate. If you think a mountain range looks better in place of that forest, go for it.

Once things are finished on the map, I will be going over it and tweaking it. Coastlines will get a shallow hex, mountains will get foothills, etc.

The top 2 and bottom 2 hex rows are ice/glacier. If you want to expand that, feel free. But no more than 3 hexes from the current "border".

The hexes are all numbered, so all I'll need is hex numbers and terrain type, or climate. After each round, I'll post an updated map.

This is something a bit different. I have a blank map. It has a number of islands/continents defined on it. What I am looking for are 8 people to take turns adding terrain to the map. There will be some structure to it, so things don't overlap. The map is 100 x 75 hexes. On their turn, a person gets 2-12 points which are used to purchase features.
  • Shape land - 3 points (7 hexes)
  • Shape climate - 2 points (7 hexes)
  • Catastrophe - 10 points (1 hex)
Shape land allows the player to decide what the terrain on 7 hexes is. These do not need to be contiguous. Also used to place rivers.
Shape climate allows the player to change the climate in 7 hexes. Forest to jungle, jungle to forest, etc.
Catastrophe - Volcano anyone?

At certain points races will appear. Once a race appears, additional options will become available. The races that appear are set, and will appear in a specific order. Though exactly when that happens is random.

I'll attach the blank map so anyone interested can look it over. If there is interest, I'll create a separate subforum for this so it's easy to track.

One note, this is fantasy based, not sci-fi. :)
