Sub-Fleets & Land on Assigned Mothership
« on: May 11, 2020, 09:38:19 AM »
Is there a way to land a fighter wing on a carrier and automatically put them in a subfleet?

Currently there is not... you have to first join the fleet, then drag them of into a fleet land them and then put them back into the sub-fleet.

I hope Steve add a new command of land and join as sub-fleet.. It would make things so much easier if I can use parasites in squadrons.

There might be a slightly easier way until more parasite tools are added. If you first tell the fighters to land, then go to the shiplist, select the desired fighters by using shift+click to select them all at the same time, and then 'Create New Sub-Fleet". This will create a sub-fleet with the selected fighters. You would still have to re-create the sub-fleet every time, but I think this might be fewer steps than the work-arounds I have seen thus far.

Then I have to remember and enter the name and create the sub-fleet everytime I land... I think that is even worse.

Either way you do it it is a hassle, unfortunately.

I think Steve will add a better squadron mechanic eventually... hopefully together with a proper escort mechanic as we had it in VB6 as well. I basically can't live without the escort system from VB6, that helped allot with more advance fleet tactics and operations.

We already have Sub-fleets... adding the escort mechanic on top of that should not be too difficult for Steve.

Steve just added a land-as-subfleet command to the 1.10.0 changes list.

Great... now I just need those escort orders to coordinate my scouts around my fleets... ;)
