[spoiler:28gxg18i]Yep, mothership of the FACs. It´s shields are incredible!
Fought one of those, fortunately not too close to home in my last game. Managed it by keeping my torpedo cruisers at 130k and punding it for half an hour :).

In my newest game, I have just destroyed the FACs of one of these, about 200 gunboats. Took me some 5.500 missiles (every single missile I brought and yes, the hit rate was horrible) and still had to take care of the last 20 in close combat. Lost my entire FAC fleet in order to buy time so my escort cruisers could finish of some 50 with AMMs.
The combat took some 5 hours realtime and I am still in the process of cleanup (i.e. killing off the 120 cripples)[/spoiler:28gxg18i]

Could you board it with a combat drop module?

If it moves that slow you should be able to get a better hit chance for the boarding pods.

dear god just imagine actually taking that behemoth. . .  you'd be unstoppable. . .  after all the repairs and such

Unfortunately they are not capturable as they are an "organic" ship.  Ie a space monster.

Well, I got to see something I thought I'd never see. This will be spoilered
because some of what I saw, may be a surprise to some players, as it was
to me. :)
First, the Star Swarm seems to be able to move from system to
system. I know the Precursers don't, yet they were fighting. I would be
cheering wildly because the two biggest PITAs in space were kicking the
crap out of each other, but that isn't what happened. If ever I wanted to
know just how dangerous Star Swarm are, this combat showed it. They
went through the Precursers like crap through a goose. I decided to make
myself scarce before they did the same to me! Now I wonder if my jump
point defences are strong enough. :)

The robots can move to other systems. At least if they can watch another ship using the jumppoint.
Per se ad astra

I watched the Swarm and Precursors go up against each other in one of my games.

The Precursors formed in the system on generation, and it was a very well developed Precursor Naval Depot. 3 squadrons totaling about 9 ships patrolled the system, there were 4 orbital defense bases over a ruined colony and multiple sensor stations with missile stores.

The Swarm migrated into the system and the fun commenced!

I think the Swarm did win it in the end, but only by the slimmest margin.

I managed to one-shoot one of those mothership with my FAC squadron. 20 FAC Hermes, each with 8 box-launchers firing MIRV separating in 4 heads dealing 4 damage each.
Meanwhile, in my home system, 30 cruise missile from planetary fortress, firing from 1.5 billion km away, dealing 50 damage each, didn't manage to one-shoot it. But the second salvo did.

Of course, the real problem is the shield. If you don't have a strike strong enough to pass the shield, you will never destroy it.

Very true. And never NEVER fight them close-up and personal, because
The Swarmlings have Meson cannons, and the Queen has 32 of
them. Since they bypass shields and armour, you're dead if they get too
close.
