Version 1.1 Release
« on: December 18, 2023, 04:52:38 PM »
What's New
It's been a while, but since the release of 2.3 I've been playing a lot more Aurora again, and that led me to start thinking about improvements to the Ribbon Maker.

The UI has been completely rewritten. Instead of a clumsy dropdown there's a list box of all available ribbon devices. You can also reorder and readjust individual device elements.

This is a major revision so I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions to improve usability. Also, please let me know if you encounter any bugs.

Update 1.1 - 20 January 2024
Horizontal Bar position slider fixed.

Update 1.0 - 19 December 2023

Custom colors should now be working and persistent across sessions.
There is also a new "raised detail" checkbox in the lower left corner, which shows on the device preview image.
You can now copy and paste device colors.

How to install
Just unzip the .zip file. If you encounter a "Windows protected your PC" popup, click "More Info" and then "Run Anyway".

How to use custom devices
RibbonMaker looks for a "devices" folder in the same folder it lives in. It will automatically load png files in that folder, and any subfolders.

This is great to see, I'm a big fan of your work!  ;D

Couple of comments from playing around for 10-15 minutes:
  • Trying to set a custom color by clicking on the colormap doesn't seem to work. It would be nice if custom colors would actually be saved, even if just for the session.
  • It would be good to be able to set device settings before adding a device rather than only after it is added, and ideally to have checked boxes persist. It gets a bit tedious having to go through and re-check "Raised Device" if I add several devices that I want raised, set the same color several times for different elements, etc.

That being said it's already a big improvement!

I had the same issue with your first iteration and was the biggest issue I faced when designing the ribbons I published later.

So +1

 ;D

Big fan too and keep up the good work.[/list]

Custom colors should now be working. I also added a copy/paste color functionality.

Bug report: When working with the Horizontal Bar device, trying to set the position slider has no effect. However, if I check "Center Device", the bar snaps to the selected position (but the Position slider becomes frozen). By going back and forth it is still possible to position the device as desired, but it is inconvenient.
