Obsolete Components
« on: November 02, 2011, 04:19:03 AM »
Is there any way at present to prevent superceded items ( not appearing in the "view technology screen" where one can obsolete individual items of equipment ) from cluttering up the ship design screen when only current components are required. As an example I have researched the Jump Gate Construction Module 150 whereas previously I had the 180 module researched. How can I now ensure that only the 150 module shows in the "class design screen" There appears no way to obsolete the 180 module.

There's an "Obso Comp" button in the class design screen, and a checkbox option to show/hide obsolete ship modules. Is that what you're looking for?

You can also use the cntl-F7 components screens to set the obsolete flag.

You can also use the cntl-F7 components screens to set the obsolete flag.

That only works for components you have designed yourself or electronic warfare components. The others such as different damage controls/jump gate construction modules/other are not listed on that scren.

Ok, another question - can one un-obsolete ( i.e. retrieve ) a component after having used the obs comp button to remove it  from the ship design screen ? You do not appear to be able to recover any accidental removal.

Yes, you can't do it through the "Class Design" screen but if you go to the Components Screen (Ctrl F7) you can look at all of your designed components, (looking at obsolete one is a toggle somewhere) and move them back and forth from an obsolete state.

Again that only works with components you have designed yourself or electronic warfare components. To recover any components that you have marked obsolete go to the class design window -> design view, check the show obsolete checkbox, select the component you want to recover and hit Obso Comp button.
