civilian freighters causing one day increments
« on: January 20, 2014, 09:50:08 PM »
Probably a stupid question.  I'm trying to play with 3 different empires in one game, and one of the empires has a large number of civilian freighters travelling between Earth and Europa.  The other two empires keep picking the freighters up on passive scanners as hostile contacts every time one of them leaves or returns to Earth which occurs daily.  Right now all 3 empires are doing research or refitting ships etc. . and will be "busy" for the next 5 to 6 months, but when pressing the 30 day increment the game advances a few hours to a day each time.
Is there a way to have the game ignore civilian freighters from hostile empires so that it doesn't take an hour in real time to advance the game a month in game time?

Hope that makes sense to someone.
Thanks

Short answer: No, there is no setting that will accomplish what you want, if these empires are all in the same system you can sort of cheat around it by giving them all enough passive sensor coverage that the freighters never get out of range though. If you are multi-system then I recommend playing a different game or reading something while you click the advance time button.

1) If they are only being detected as hostile but the Empires aren't fighting one another, you can set the status of the other Empires to neutral in the Tactical Intelligence window

2) If they really are hostile, send some ships to blow them up :)

Although the 1st response seems the more humane option, the unfortunate malfunction of a fire control system on an Alliance frigate resulted in the complete destruction of a dozen Federation civilian freighters and colony ships.  :)
