Ground attack fighters
« on: December 14, 2015, 10:32:38 AM »
Can a ground attack fighter with one meson cannon attack enemy ground forces?

My assault transport has three ground attack fighters, mostly a rpg element and/or a last ditch attack/defence against enemy ships/fighters/pdc.

Not anymore.  In older versions you could do that.   Steve took that out to prevent people from Mesoning the enemy to death and then invading unopposed.

Invade or nuke are pretty much your choices now - which is more balanced.

Are you saying that, mesons or not, there's currently no way to use ground attack fighters to attack enemy ground forces?  ???

Well, for other weapons there's also a little factor of atmosphere, which stops the damage from non-mesons altogether if it's dense enough.

So yeah, nuke or invade.

Yowzers, you seem to be overengineering this vessel a bit; it really seems to be more for Ship-to-Ship combat rather than as an actual fighter, if just because of the lopsided tech levels. You thinking of throwing these at a planet with PDC based defenses already up or something?
Seems you might have a better time if you take just a little bit of tech off of missile quantity, size, and etc so that way you can send a higher saturation of these vehicles all at once, making it harder to deal with them all at once.
