The Terran Federation: A hopefully short AAR
« on: January 15, 2014, 10:32:50 PM »
This one will be a short, fiction light, completely by the numbers AAR, just to keep my apatite whet during slow periods of my other RP heavy game.
Settings are mostly default hence the name, except difficulty is set to 150%, 2 starting NPRs, NPR generation chance 0%, maximum number of systems of 9, gates on all jump points, and predesigned tech, systems, and ships, oh and also I like my asteroids to orbit dammit.

Initial Thoughts,

Survey of Earth:
Duranium 50,250 0.9
Neutronium 28,700 0.6
Corbomite 23,150 0.2
Tritanium 59,350 0.7
Boronide 32,250 0.2
Mercassium 41,050 0.2
Vendarite 86,150 0.4
Sorium 62,850 0.6
Uridium 25,700 0.2
Corundium 23,400 0.2
Gallicite 27,400 0.2

Terrible, Corundium is a huge problem, with production of only 960 a year I can only dedicate half of production to new mines without using up my initial stockpile of 1000, this is ok however, as expansion of factories has top priority, but finding more corundium is a must.

Fleet Composition:

After reviewing all available designs, the following was chosen as the best cost effective option for initial defense of the home system.
3 Heavy ASM Destroyers;

Code: [Select]
Dreadnought class Missile Destroyer    8,450 tons     214 Crew     1074.7 BP      TCS 169  TH 420  EM 0
2485 km/s     Armour 3-36     Shields 0-0     Sensors 12/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 4     PPV 35
Maint Life 3.22 Years     MSP 318    AFR 142%    IFR 2%    1YR 46    5YR 692    Max Repair 96 MSP
Intended Deployment Time: 6 months    Spare Berths 0
Magazine 535

84 EP Ion Drive (5)    Power 84    Fuel Use 74.4%    Signature 84    Exp 10%
Fuel Capacity 700,000 Litres    Range 20.0 billion km   (93 days at full power)

CIWS-80 (1x4)    Range 1000 km     TS: 8000 km/s     ROF 5       Base 50% To Hit
Size 5 Missile Launcher (7)    Missile Size 5    Rate of Fire 75
Missile Fire Control FC53-R87 (1)     Range 53.7m km    Resolution 87
Lebanon Anti-ship Missile (79)  Speed: 12,200 km/s   End: 90.3m    Range: 66.1m km   WH: 12    Size: 5    TH: 40/24/12
Croatia Anti-ship Missile (28)  Speed: 20,200 km/s   End: 8.8m    Range: 10.6m km   WH: 8    Size: 5    TH: 74/44/22

Active Search Sensor MR53-R87 (1)     GPS 8352     Range 53.7m km    Resolution 87
Thermal Sensor TH2-12 (1)     Sensitivity 12     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  12m km

Missile to hit chances are vs targets moving at 3000 km/s, 5000 km/s and 10,000 km/s

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

Speed is bad for the tech level, as soon as possible more capable. smaller 90EP ION drives shall be refit into the frame raising speed to 3700 km/s, missiles are also terrible, the long range is too slow and the fast missiles are too short ranged, a compromise is needed.
Code: [Select]
Scorpion Anti-ship Missile Speed: 20,200 km/s   End: 32m    Range: 38.9m km   WH: 8    Size: 5    TH: 66/44/22 Not quite the same hit percentage, but vastly more range, much better. Design on this is started.

Next, 2 AMM escorts,

Code: [Select]
Edward VII class Destroyer Escort    8,450 tons     170 Crew     1086.46 BP      TCS 169  TH 420  EM 0

Missile Fire Control FC5-R1 (1)     Range 5.8m km    Resolution 1
Imperial Eagle Anti-missile Missile (918)  Speed: 15,100 km/s   End: 7.6m    Range: 6.9m km   WH: 1    Size: 1    TH: 100/60/30

Active Search Sensor MR5-R1 (1)     GPS 96     Range 5.8m km    MCR 627k km    Resolution 1
Thermal Sensor TH1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km
EM Detection Sensor EM1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km

Missile to hit chances are vs targets moving at 3000 km/s, 5000 km/s and 10,000 km/s

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

Reasonably good ship, but that AMM is garbage, lets see what the new design team comes up with.
Code: [Select]
Patriot Anti-missile Missile  Speed: 25,200 km/s   End: 71m    Range: 2m km   WH: 1    Size: 1    TH: 88/55/27To hit is worse, range sucks, but at least this thing is fast enough to actually reach antiship missiles, the range will be increased to about 7 million kilometers with the design of a dedicated size .7 engine rather than the 7 x 0.1 size engines in the prototype, so design on the engine is started.

We also have an excellent energy weapon specialist so lastly 2 of this last class is chosen in the hope that improvements to it will be impressive in a short time.

Code: [Select]
Broadsword class Destroyer Escort    8,450 tons     234 Crew     974 BP      TCS 169  TH 420  EM 0

84 EP Ion Drive (5)    Power 84    Fuel Use 74.4%    Signature 84    Exp 10%
Fuel Capacity 800,000 Litres    Range 22.9 billion km   (106 days at full power)

Twin 10cm C2 Visible Light Laser Turret (8x2)    Range 32,000km     TS: 8000 km/s     Power 6-4     RM 2    ROF 10        3 3 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
Fire Control S04 16-8000 (1)    Max Range: 32,000 km   TS: 8000 km/s     69 37 6 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
Gas-Cooled Fast Reactor Technology PB-1 (8)     Total Power Output 36    Armour 0    Exp 5%

Active Search Sensor MR5-R1 (1)     GPS 96     Range 5.8m km    MCR 627k km    Resolution 1
Thermal Sensor TH1-6 (1)     Sensitivity 6     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  6m km

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

Research to capacitor recharge 3 is given top priority with half of all researchers put onto the task, completion is expected middle of next year. Also increased construction rate is chosen, which shall be completed end of next year.
Next update will cover shipyards, and initial exploration efforts and geosurvey.

Sadly it's been pointed out to me that the "maximum system" limit doesn't work in real stars games, so I'm going to restart this.
Settings are slightly different than before, mostly default but; Maximum number of systems 12, difficulty 150%, NPR generation chance 0%, default 120,000 research points, predesigned systems and ships, Sol start, precursors, swarm, 2 NPRs, jump gates OFF, Real stars OFF, Orbital motion for asteroids.
I'll be deleting all but 1 jump points from each starting system, then after all 12 systems are generated I'll interfere to connect some of the secondary systems together.
I've manually configured all the jump points, each NPR and Sol is no more than 4 jumps from any other system or any other NPRs homeworld, I seem to have lost the diagram, but it's unimportant as knowledge of the galaxy is unknown to us (actually now that I'm done I can't hide the jump points or take the systems off the system or galaxy map, but that's an unimportant detail)
Edit: Actually while configuring the systems it seems I inadvertently generated a 13th system somehow, but no matter as now the jump points are all configured so there's no chance of any other systems being generated.

Initial Resources:
Duranium 50,000 1
Neutronium 74,600 0.2
Corbomite 18,150 0.2
Tritanium 42,950 0.4
Boronide 39,550 0.6
Mercassium 31,550 0.2
Vendarite 103,450 0.2
Sorium 52,275 0.9
Uridium 68,200 0.2
Corundium 118,400 0.4
Gallicite 30,150 0.2
Not too bad, however that low accessibility vendarite may dampen my initial factory expansion. Not to mention the strong possibility of Gallicite shortages in the near future.
Mediocre selection of governors, have selected one with 15% factory production and 15% terraforming. Others include one with 10% shipbuilding and one with 25% wealth and 5% pop growth both of whom may be handy in the future.
Industry set 100% to expansion of factories.
Researchers are quite good, however a good construction researcher would have been excellent at this early point.
Logistics 30%/10
Missiles 25%/10
Missiles 15%/5
Defence 10%/15
Logistics 0%/25
Sensors 0%/5
The logistics researcher will be put onto expansion of factory production, Missiles 25% shall be started onto levitated pit warheads (WH 4). The future looks to be very missile oriented for the time being.

Now to look at our selection of fighting equipment, Commodore Charlie Holmes has made the controversial decision to select large cruisers for our starting navy, reasoning that our naval yards are large enough to immediately begin construction on destroyers.
We have 10000 build points for ships, 5000 for PDCs. We should be able to afford 4 17,000 ton light cruisers, or 3 26,000 battle cruisers. Since we have jump drives with a squadron capacity of 3, and because bigger is obviously always better, the 26kton vessels are selected. We need a jump capable leader, a heavy hitter and something for defence escort duties, and designers have 4 vessels on the board, Jump and non jump variants of Size 5 missile launcher, or Particle beam weaponry, nothing particularly stands out as a command cruiser so we shall inspect sensor designs.

2 of the following are selected for, it's hoped the range of the particle beams will be sufficient against enemy energy weapons, and also double as antimissle defences.

Code: [Select]
Invincible class Battlecruiser    26,800 tons     707 Crew     3217.4 BP      TCS 536  TH 1901  EM 0
3546 km/s     Armour 5-79     Shields 0-0     Sensors 12/12/0/0     Damage Control Rating 12     PPV 132

Gas-Cooled Fast Reactor Technology PB-1 (10)     Total Power Output 45    Armour 0    Exp 5%

Active Search Sensor MR25-R20 (1)     GPS 1920     Range 25.8m km    Resolution 20
Active Search Sensor MR72-R71 (1)     GPS 10224     Range 72.8m km    Resolution 71
Thermal Sensor TH2-12 (1)     Sensitivity 12     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  12m km
EM Detection Sensor EM2-12 (1)     Sensitivity 12     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  12m km

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

However the design is less than optimal, more powerful engines are selected, allowing more tonnage for particle beams, armour is upgraded to 6, em sensor is taken away as leader shall have that capability, and unneeded fuel and engineering is stripped out to make the design comply with estimated uses, deployment time is increased to 9 months. Size is increased to match the 27,000 ton jump drives.

No contest really, while gauss turrets have their uses, they are best in large massed formations, so at this early stage the AMM variant is selected, also advantageous is it as range and longevity matching its particle beam counterparts, sadly sensors are still lacking, as soon as better extremely long range sensors are available a light cruiser shall be produced to cover this fleet.
Sadly the designs come 6.8%% over budget, designers blame constant changes dictated by the admiralty, as well as selection of higher grade components, however we don't even have a single admiral, so their charges are rather suspect.
Congress will not budge on the 10,000 BP allocation for the fleet, so we have no choice but to use a rather novel solution, each ship will be produced short by 6 engines, the civilian sector shall make the additional engines which will be finished by the end of the year. Speed is reduced to 2662 untill the engine upgrades. Anti Missile speed is terrible, but better design will need to wait untill Levitated pit warheads are complete. New engines are however being created, using existing technology we could make ;
Code: [Select]
Prototype AMM  Speed: 18,000 km/s   End: 5m    Range: 5.6m km   WH: 1    Size: 1    TH: 72/43/21With new warhead and custom engines we could make;
Code: [Select]
Prototype AMM  Speed: 21,600 km/s   End: 8m    Range: 10.8m km   WH: 1    Size: 1    TH: 77/47/23Or,
Code: [Select]
Prototype AMM  Speed: 21,300 km/s   End: 17m    Range: 21.3m km   WH: 1    Size: 1    TH: 77/46/23 Which would double as offensive missiles if fire control range were increased, In fact replacing the Resolution 1 and resolution 4 sensor in the Audacious with a size 16 resolution 1 sensor would save 100 tons, increase missile detection by to 2.6 times, and allow detection of all other contacts at 15 million kilometers. New anti missile fire controls are designed, now size 6 they allow 3 times the missile interception range, and allow firing on ship at 17 million kilometers. However only 3 fire controls will be able to fit into the design. This compromise is considered acceptable. Research in these improved sensors will take 2 years as our sensor specialist has no bonus and max 5 labs.

Planetary defence shall be achieved by construction of 2 Equally equipped 2500 BP PDCs containing a mix of ASM and AMM, However our standard ASM is rather terrible
Code: [Select]
Leonidas Anti-ship Missile (279)  Speed: 12,000 km/s   End: 180.4m    Range: 129.9m km   WH: 8    Size: 5    TH: 40/24/12 Our Active sensors and Missile fire controls lack the ability to make this a serious design for planetary defence, in fact some scientists are calling for size 16 torpedos containing massive warheads, or alternatively equipped with extreme range drones for dropping our standard ASMs, however this idea is shelved for now. Waiting for reduced sized PDC launchers would be a good option, using these, this design is possible;

This design is classed as a Planetary Defence Centre and can be pre-fabricated in 8 sections
This design carries as many size 5 launchers as the not selected 27kton cruiser, and 50% more missiles, and as many AMM tubes as the Audacious cruiser, with slightly reduced magazine. These will be built once the missile launchers have been researched.
Finally new size 5 ASMs are required, using strength 4 warhead these will be possible;
Code: [Select]
Prototype ASM Speed: 15,700 km/s   End: 77m    Range: 72.9m km   WH: 9    Size: 5    TH: 50/31/15This matches quite well our sensor and fire control range, and is somewhat faster, this shall be attempted when new warheads are ready.

Next we shall assign military staff, organise shipyards and assign survey specialists and design survey vessels.

Assigned to Command the fleet is commodore Charlie Holmes, as his crew training rating of 200 is the highest available, Next assigned in order of importance are ; Operations officer, logistics, survey, communications, intelligence, fighter ops, and diplomacy. Our next highest crew training officer, captain Mitchell Briggs is given command of the Audacious, and the main battle fleet, all other officers shall be assigned Automatically by commodore Holmes or his subordinates.
Next we assign a survey team to determine if Earth has hidden Trans Newtonian Elements, Our top geologist with 25% is actually our best logistics researcher, who is busy working on construction research, our next best geologist at 20% is our survey officer Victoria Cooper at fleet headquarters, and lastly Commodore Charlie Holmes is third best at 15% bonus, our team therefore will comprise of the 5 next best geologists with bonuses of 15%,15%,15%,10% and 10% for a total of merely 65%, however with Coopers bonus our team will reach an effective strength of 78.

Our shipyards consist of ;
Naval Yard A   2 Slipways 9,000 Ton capacity
Naval Yard B   3 Slipways 8,000 Ton capacity
Naval Yard C   2 Slipways 7,000 Ton capacity
Commercial A  3 Slipways 4,000 Ton capacity

It looks like we have a significant capacity for destroyer production, however Commodore Holmes wants those 17kton light cruisers available ASAP, so Naval A is set to expansion, this will take 6 years and 8 months, however commodore Holmes is confidant that using continual expansion will be faster, as well as allow the yard to be used in the meantime as necessary. Naval C is set to expand by 2000 to allow matching construction with Naval B. Naval B shall construct our First grav survey vessel then be retooled for a missile destroyer. Commercial A is tiny for a commercial shipyard but can expand 3000 tons per year, it is set to continual expansion, meanwhile a small 4kton class of geo survey ship shall be constructed while it is expanding.
Designs for initial survey vessels are as follows;

Not bad, but of course the missiles suck, rather than waiting for new warheads or engines we shall use whatever is already available.
Code: [Select]
Size 3 Active Antiship Missile  Speed: 18,000 km/s   End: 24m    Range: 26.2m km   WH: 3    Size: 3    TH: 60/36/18Not significantly better, but it's active sensors should allow it to reaquire FAC or larger targets travelling upto 4,000 km/s. Once a dedicated engine is finished for it, production shall start.
Yard 1 is retooled for Queen Elizabeth Class destroyer, and construction starts on 2.
Lastly as we don't particularly want to wait 2 years to survey our own system, so a small geosurvey probe is designed which can be built quickly in our fighter factorys.
Code: [Select]
Pioneer  class Geological Survey Vessel    500 tons     16 Crew     136.47 BP      TCS 10  TH 16  EM 0

Proto 15.6 EP Ion Drive (1)    Power 15.6    Fuel Use 30.04%    Signature 15.6    Exp 6%
Fuel Capacity 30,000 Litres    Range 36.0 billion km   (260 days at full power)

Geological Survey Sensors (1)   1 Survey Points Per Hour

This design is classed as a Fighter for production, combat and maintenance purposes
Not too bad, can be built in 2.5 months. The engine must be researched though, but that engine can be recycled for sensor and early warning probes, orbital defence platforms, and whatever.

Now that we're properly setup, turns can start in earnest.

March 2040
Regrettably our geologists report that they are unable to find anything one Earth, they are told to stand down.
Construction begins on the first of 4 Pioneer class geosurvey probes.
May 2040
Pioneer 1 Completed, sent immediately towards the moon, mars, then venus.
Captain Mitchell Briggs reports that the main fleet is nearing 6 months into its voyage, since this is 25% into it's maintenance life he has inquired into the status of our maintenance facilities, we seem to be short by a mere 70, he been given assurances that facilities will be up to par before any major breakdowns occur.
Construction begins on the new maintenance facilities, we can at best spare 65% of construction, 30% is kept producing new factories, while the facilities will take over 3 years, we have a fairly large stockpile of maintenance supplies which should keep the ships running untill then.
June 2040
Minerals discovered on the Moon; Tritanium 458,911 0.7, Vendarite 1,014,976 0.6
July 2040
A Particle Beam on Invincible 2 has suffered a breakdown, using 16 maintenance supplies, 574 remain, the admiralty is still cautiously optimistic about the new ships.
July 2040
Minerals discovered on Venus; Duranium 41,205,040 0.1, Tritanium 7,750,211 0.1, Corundium 21,155,580 0.9
A Particle beam on Invinsible 1 has suffered a breakdown, 16 MSP have been used, 574 remain. The admiralty is getting nervous.
Our engines are ready for the Queen Elizabeth's new missiles, design starts on what has been christened the Tudor Missile.
The inner system major survey complete, Pioneer 1 is sent to Jupiter and it's moons. The geology team is reassembled and sent to the moon.
August 2040
Pioneer 2 is complete, it's immediately sent off to Neptune, Saturn is reserved for Pioneer 1 when it has finished with Jupiter.
August 2040
A missile firecontrol on Audacious has suffered a maintenance failure, using 32 MSP, 1914 remain. Maintenance clock remains at 0.6 years out of designed life of 2 years.
September 2040
Minerals discovered on Io, Corbomite 339,563 0.2
Pioneer 3 is Completed and sent to Survey the Asteriod belt.
Designers have come up with a small defense satellite;
Code: [Select]
Defence Sat class Orbital Weapon Platform    500 tons     22 Crew     58.4 BP      TCS 10  TH 5  EM 0
500 km/s     Armour 1-5     Shields 0-0     Sensors 1/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 1     PPV 3

Active Search Sensor MR0-R1 (1)     GPS 4     Range 190k km    MCR 21k km    Resolution 1

This design is classed as a Fighter for production, combat and maintenance purposes
What the hell, our fighter factories will be going unused anyway, 20 are queued.
October 2040
Minerals discovered on Neptune: Sorium 445,680 0.8
Minerals discovered on Wild: Neutronium 7,832 0.7, Tritanium 27,791 0.7, Boronide 3934 0.8, Sorium 3,345 1, Uridium 41,677 0.8, Corundium 1,636 0.7
Neutronium Shortage in shipyard modification and construction of maintenance facility. Factories dedicated to maintenance facility construction is reduced, and expansion of Naval A is paused for the time being at 9990 Tons.
Wild seems a good candidate for automines, it would solve both our neutronium shortage and the expected Uridium shortage.
Our commercial shipyard however is still only 7ktons, we quickly design a 8,000 ton fast mini freighter.
Code: [Select]
Readymax class Freighter    8,000 tons     83 Crew     439 BP      TCS 160  TH 475  EM 0

Fuel Capacity 300,000 Litres    Range 6.3 billion km   (24 days at full power)

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes
Fair enough for inner system freight, definitely enough for a comet that has an apoapsis of under 1 billion kilometers.
Construction shall begin in december when naval C finishes expansion.
November 2040
Minerals discovered on Saturn; Sorium 2,772,420 0.9
December 2040

June 2041
Between comets Wolf and Wild, most of our mineral shortcomings can be remediated, however vendarite and gallicite shortages may still hit in the near term, particularly if we keep heavy focus on factory and shipbuilding, if we choose to continue, then halleys comet is a good choice for short term exploitation, with its 128k vendarite at 1 accessibility, as well as 9k gallicite at .8 and other high accessibility minerals. In fact, Halleys comet is given priority, the geology team is sent there and construction begins on 2 mass drivers.
With the completion of research into PDC reduced size 5 and 1 launchers, construction of our initial Swiftsure class PDCs is finished.
New warheads are expected june 2042, then finally new size 5 and 1 missiles can be finished, it should be noted that our new 15 million kilometer resolution 1 sensors and fire controls are ready, existing systems should be refit  to support them, in the meantime our new AMMs will be designed with these new systems in mind, also, new 75% reduced size 1 tubes shall be researched.
August 2041
The Matthew Skinner Geology team has improved it's skill whilst exploring Halley's comet.
A new survey officer has joined us, a second geology team is created using new officers as well as some veterans from the Matthew skinner team, The new team has 62 skill and is sent to comet Wild, with it's strength now at 63, Matthew Skinners team remains on Halley's comet.
September 2041
Our illustrious Class grav survey vessels are completed! They are sent to explore the solar system for jump points.
Naval B Begins construction of 2 new Queen Elizabeth Class Destroyers, this will use the last of our Uridium and Gallicite stockpile.

The Jason Stanley Geology team reports that comet Wolf has no further minerals, it has been reassigned to Machholz.
Readymax 001 and 002 built on Earth and assigned to Shipyard TG
2 more are queued up, the first 2 are started delivering automine components to Machholz, this comet will temporarily stave off the expected shortages of vendarite, uridium, and gallacite.
Expansion of our commercial shipyard is taking longer than anticipated, construction of a new commercial shipyard needs to begin as soon as neutronium shortages cease, for the time being Naval yard A has been approved to expand to 12,500 tons for the temporary use of commercial shipping.

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes
While the new long range anti-missiles will be introduced soon, the size of sensors and fire control needed to use them are too much for a destroyer hull, however this design does make use of our new reduced size missile tubes.
Retooling begins at naval C which is still finishing off the second batch of 2 Readymax light freighters, a third batch should be possible before retooling is complete.
New freighters with double capacity should be possible once commercial A expand past 13K tons by end of 2042.
A new sensor satellite is designed to provide early warning for our orbital defence system. It can also be used for long term monitoring of other systems or jump points. 6 have been ordered.

Fuel is now a serious concern as reserves drop below 300k, Our cruisers have their fuel reserves reduced to 300k which is enough to support a 1 billion kilometer journey, however our 2 destroyers continue training excercises as they will require 6 months to finish off their million liters each.
We now have only 6 million fuel in reserve after defuelling the cruisers, production remains at 4.6 million per annum. Our readymax mini freighters however are hungry and each single freighter will use our entire fuel production by itself, the remaining 2 freighters are 30% completed, but shall still be finished as there is still a need for their use, plans need to be determined for greater fuel production.
Sorium harvester research is queued after mining research, completion is expected in january 2044.
In the meantime more fuel refineries are required, 20% of industry is dedicated towards producing a further 50 refinaries. Meanwhile 50% remain at factory expansion, 20% on mine production, and a measily 5% each on mass drivers and Maintenance facilities, the admiralty has decided that prioity is to get facilities upto scratch for building and supporting 18kton light cruisers, which will require only an additional 6 facilities.
March 2042
Design is complete for a new commercial freighter with double capacity of our old readymax freighters.

April 2042
Research into mining production 12 completed, Sorium harvester begins.
With mining increasing by 20% our neutronium shortage is lessened significantly.
May 2042
Duranium reserves are now sitting at 38k unmined, at current production this will all be extracted in 7 years, current industrial output shall use half of this in the next 10 years. The comet Tempel 1 has the largest reserves at 95k at 0.9 accessibility, this shall be our next target for mining, The small quantity of neutronium there shall also be quite useful. The colony on Machholtz now has 20 mines and output of 250 vendarite, 225 gallicite, and 175 Uridium and Corundium. One additional automine is queued for production. Now the administration of earth is concerned about having so many small industrial production projects going simultaneously, in order to remove the backlog factory expansion is dropped from 50% to 31%, the extra points are distributed 20 as to complete our remaining 23 mines, 7 maintainance facilities, and 2 mass drivers by the december 2043. Our 47 additional Fuel refinerys recieve 27% of production capacity and will be finished mid 2045.
June 2042
Queen Elizabeth 003 completed and sent to train with it's bretheren, work begins on the 8th Ship of that class.

October 2042
Readymax 3 & 4 completed, they are assigned to deliver automines to Neujmin along with the others. As naval Yard C is only 2 months away from completion of retooling for Edward VIII, further construction on that yard shall wait.
Construction begins on 20 AMM sats, their limited sensors are removed and replaced with the necessary components to raise deployment time to 10 years.
Research begins on missile agility 48 per msp research. EST 4 years
Research begins on composite armour. EST 7 Years.
Survey of Sol system complete - New jump point found 2.8 billion kilometers from the sun, at a bearing of 5 Oclock. The system has been designated as "London" due to a lack of knowledge about where it leads, the system shall be surveyed by a group of 2 destroyers, and Grav survey vessel Illustrious no 1.

OOC: Because of the way I generated the systems I haven't received any message about the discovery of the jump point, so I've waited untill the survey was complete, the next systems I survey I shall merely assume that any jump point is discovered when the nearest node has been searched ,for RP reasons I'm not looking at the system untill something actually jumps into it. Also at this point I have basically forgotten what the systems looked like, not that I did have a good look at them, so the discovery will basically be real to me anyway. Also, half of the Pioneer class geo survey craft have fallen afoul of the fighter overhaul bug, they have been deleted.

December 2042
Resolution 1, 2 and 3 have been completed. They can be added to the survey group, however fuel is down to 2.4 million, and the survey group for London requires 3 million in order to fully refuel, not counting 1.2 million for the 3 Resolution that have just completed. The 2 destroyers have been kept on minimal fuel, and the Illustrious is low on fuel after having just returned from the Solar system survey, fuel therefore is removed from Illustrious 2 as it overhauls, also Readymax 1 and 2 are currently on overhaul after their first year of service, they are stripped of fuel, Queen Elizabeth 3 is recalled from training and kept at Earth in order to conserve fuel, and Readymax 3 & 4 should continue dropping mines onto Neujmin as the sorium produced by the comet will be valuable in the near future, however after completion of the 3 geosurvey vessels Commercial A is now empty, it has also just completed expansion to 13,500 tons, the yard is now retooled for more fuel efficient Handy class freighters. ETC 5 Months.
So Resolution 1 & 2 shall accompany the survey group with half fuel due to their high range and low fuel consumption, Resolution 3 shall remain on Earth. Merely 179497 Fuel remains on Earth, as 300k is needed to complete our order for missiles and more is obviously needed for our new vessels, construction of fuel refineries is doubled, all orbital weapons platforms are taken off training and defuelled and construction of new missiles is paused.
The new task force departs Earth for london, ETA 15 days.
After defuelling Readymax 3 & 4, and all weapons platforms, 701,810 fuel now remain on earth.
January 2043
Retooling for Edward VII completed, 2 are Queued, Expansion of Naval yard A begins again.
OOC Duh, I don't have jump drives on those 8k ton destroyers, and the grav surveyor is only 4500 tons

The survey group arrives at the london jump point, the destroyers must remain behind at earth, while the grav survey vessel and 2 geo survey vessels make transit.

7th January 2043 08:55
The task group arrives to survey the system of London, London A is a G0-V class with very close mass ans luminosity to our own sun, orbiting it are 3 terrestrial worlds and 3 gas giants.
London B is a G5-V star orbiting london A at a distance of 900 Billion kilometers, it would take the survey group 6 years to reach the star and it's worlds, however it appears that there are 2 terresttrial worlds, 4 gas giants, and a super jovian which might contain a massive supply of sorium fuel. There are also a great deal of terrestrial moons orbiting the giants of London B.
The jump point back to earth is 6 billion kilometers from London A, as A-1 looks like a good candidate for a habitation it is selected as a target for the whole group, first the group will travel 4 billion kilometers to survey location 4, then the geo survey ships will travel the additional 2 billion kilometers to A-1, any planets that may come between the group and A 1 shall be surveyed first. ETA is 21 days.
As the fuel situation on earth is stable, readymax 3 and 4 go back to delivery of automines to Neujmin.

Feburary 2043
An alien installation has been found on London A 1 which might boost production of research facilities located on the world, A1 is a terrestrial world with colony cost 2, a high surface temperature, .5 gravity, the diameter of mars, a .27 pressure atmosphere composed of 82% nitrogen and 18% oxygen, and the geology survey report is thus:
Neutronium 115k .6, Mercassium 3,125k .6, Sorium 4,884k .1, Uridium 5,189k .1, Corundium 4,301k .1
This looks like a good world for a colony, however at the present point the 9 billion kilometer distance from earth and the lack of infrastructure prevents any colony attempt.
Minerals have also been discovered on other worlds in London, the most significant being London A IV moon 4 with 1,438k Accessability Duranium as well as 500k .4 vendarite.

March 2043
Over 41 Million sorium has been discovered on London A VI with Accessability 0.7, this deposit is significantly more than is available in our home system and has secured our long term fuel needs. Large scale exploitation however shall wait with our pressing fuel concerns requiring fuel production slightly closer to home.
Research is complete on Active Search Sensor MR15-R1, Research begins on EM sensor sensitivity 8.
We can now design our long range AMM cruisers.

This design uses slightly more fuel efficient 79 Ep engines, and mounts twice as many launchers as the Edward VII destroyer, more importantly it mounts our new missile search sensors and is the first design to include shields, with strength 16 shields enough to stop a single missile that could damage 4 layers of armour.
However expansion of naval yard A will take 4 more years untill this ship will fit inside, Untill then another ship shall be designed for the yard, a destroyer squadron leader of 9000 tons equipped with a Jump engine and gauss cannon turrets for layered defencive fire

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes
A very average design, too much was sacrificed in order to fit in the jump engines, however the anti fighter search sensor should prove useful.
Retooling will be complete by december.

April 2043
Naval yard B and C will be expanded to 9,000 tons.
May 2043
Retooling for Handy completed, 3 are ordered,ETC feburary next year, Expansion resumes.

New jump point discovered in London, it has been designated Glasgow. 23 jump points remain to be surveyed.
As Geo survey of London A is almost complete, Resolution 2 ordered to wait at the glasgow jump point, Illustrious 2 Will be sent from Earth to accompany it into the system while Illustrious 2 continues the grav survey of London and Resolution 1 finished surveying the asteriods.
June 2043
A mass Driver is set up on Tempel 1, This will allow regular delivery of the much needed neutronium, 25% of our production comes from this comet.
Studies are complete for a colony on London A 1, Terraforming will only require 0.0518 atmospheres of oxygen and 0.09 Atmospheres of a suitable high atmospheric reflective aerosol, also known as "Antigreenhouse gas" in order to become habitable, while the resulting surface pressure will be half that of earth, no infrastructure will be required for a colony. This will require 142 Module years of terraforming, However the Duranium rich world of London IV Moon 4 would require 2 atmospheres of terraforming and still require infrastructure therefore it is not a good prospect for a colony. Work begins on the 2400 infrastructure required to support the 24 million population needed for a 10 research center colony, this colony will produce a significant 70% boost to vital construction and production research.
A colony ship will be required, It is hoped that our commercial shipyard will be able to produce this design as well as our freighters. It is based on an uprated 3 engine variant of our Handy class freighter. Shipyard expansion should support this increased size of vessel by the end of the year

July 2043
Illustrious 2 jumps into glasgow, it is a desolate system, with a single planet, Resolution 2 is sent to investigate while the Grav ship starts the survey.
Our income is now a concern, Governor of Earth Ryan Leach believes our emphasis on factory and mine expansion is the cause, and offers to step down so that an administrator with greater financial knowledge can take over.
New governor Sam Gibson immediately applies his knowledge towards providing a 25% wealth creation bonus as well as a 5%  population growth.
Ryan Leach believes that a more long term solution to our financial problem would be creation of another colony closer to home than that planned in london, he offers his thus far untested terraforming knowledge to the task.
He is sent to mars to check on the geology team there, and to supervise a new colony, while the planet is devoid of any resources his factory production bonus would enhance any production there, it is decided that duranium shall be shipped there and future infrastructure will be created there, this will help with unemployment as well as give a financial incentive for a colony there.

September 2043
Readymax 4 starts delivering infrastructure and factories to Mars.
A small shuttle is developed in order to transport the starter colony onto mars.

Work begins on scrapping the costly and obsolete Readymax 1 & 2.
June 2044
Retooling for Handy 15 F completed, 3 of the fuel harvester are started.
A new tanker is needed for retrieving fuel from the tankers once they are in service, as they only produce 120k fuel per year only a small tanker is needed. this mini tanker is designed;

This design is classed as a Fighter for production, combat and maintenance purposes
As it is merely intended to get to saturn and back, a mere 6 billion kilometers away , 1,000 km/s is sufficient to do the job in just over 2 months, the higher efficiency engine will consume just 1,500 litres of fuel per trip and it's extreme range would actually allow it to travel to London B if necessary, if one was willing to wait 30 years for the journey.
A new Mars express shuttle is also possible with 40% more colonist capacity, the sacrificed speed is not a concern, as even at 500 km/s Mars is a mere 10 days journey, even loading colonists on earth takes longer than this. It's increased range also would allow it to drop off colonists at London A, but that shouldn't be necessary as dedicated colony ships should be ready by then.

Industry update:
Earth population now at 571.5 million.
Construction of mines finished at 450 total. Productiion will now concentrate on automines for our cometary mining colonies, 50 are queued at 28% of production. Each of our 4 mining colonies now hold 24 mines, Earth has 500 construction factories 25% are idle due to funding issues, 27% are finishing our second commercial shipyard, ETC december this year, 16% are finishing the last of our 250 fuel refineries due end of this year, and only 2% remain constructing infrastructure and maintenance facilities, 3 facilities remain untill we can support 18k ton cruisers, ETC june 2049. One of Earths 20 research facilities remains idle due to finding issues.
Shipyards: Naval A has 2 slipways at 12133 capacity, currently expanding capacity. Assigned to duke of york, 2 are being built, one paused due to funding issues.
Naval B has 3 slipways at 8000 tons, expansion of 1000 tons paused at 60% due to finding issues, Assigned to production of Queen Elizabeth class, 2 slipways remain unused. One continues construction on our 8th destroyer of the class which will be ready next month.
Naval C Has 2 slipways of 8000 tons, expansion of 1000 tons paused at 81%, Assigned to Edward VII Escort destroyer, 2 are under construction.
Commercial A has 3 slipways With 19310 Ton capacity, and is currently expanding, 3 Handy 15 F fuel harvesters are being constructed, due in one week, another 3 will be constructed, afterwards The shipyard will retool for a 20kton colony ship, it is hoped the yard will also be capable of constructing similar sized 3 small hold freighters.
Mars population now at 592,000 ,with 282 infrastructure supporting 1.42 million. 410,000 are working in our 25 factories, an additional 640,000 is needed to run them at full efficiency. 956 infrastructure, remain queued, they will be ready june 1062
Fleet consists of:
1 Jump capable AMM battlecruiser escort Audacious 25,350 tons, 59% Trained, 5.6 years on clock, unfuelled
2 Battlecruiser Particle beam equipped Invincible 1 25250 Tons, 57.6% trained, 5.6 years on clock, unfuelled
8 Destroyers AMM equipped Queen Elizabeth class 8000 tons, 34%, 34%, 29% Trained with .25 years on clock, unfuelled, 4 11% grade and a 0% grade almost complete on training maneuvers All equipped with no missile (I screwed up and somehow ended up with all ships completed with no ordnance)
2 AMM destroyer escort Edward VII 8000 tons, with 0% grade and 0 years on clock on training manuevers.
Under construction
2 Edward VII AMM destroyer escort: Completion october 2047
2 Duke of york jump capable gauss destroyer escort, 1 April 2046, 1 paused, approx 22 months remaining.

Boat bay research completed, research begins into 36K commercial jump engine.
We can now use hangers to repair our smallcraft, a dedicated carrier would require retooling our yards, however as no further Queen Elizabeth class are planned, we can retool Naval B for such a craft, as it is still expanding to 9k tons, a 9kton light carrier would be ideal. Expansion is resumed, Estimated Time to Completion, mid next year.
The selected design is as follows;
Code: [Select]
Trafalgar class Light Carrier    9,000 tons     171 Crew     1259.2 BP      TCS 180  TH 600  EM 0
3333 km/s     Armour 4-38     Shields 0-0     Sensors 36/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 2     PPV 18.84

Thermal Sensor TH6-36 (1)     Sensitivity 36     Detect Sig Strength 1000:  36m km

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

Somewhat slower than our other destroyer sized classes but equipped with an extra layer of armour and it's own defensive gauss turret and missile detection sensor.  Also having less range and maintenance life means this ship needs an accompanying tanker and supply ship if it is to remain in the field for a long time. But with a generous 26% of it's hull space dedicated to hangers, and a magazine capable of holding enough missiles for at least one reload of whatever class of fighter may grace this craft in the future. Also this ship is the first of our destroyers to mount the long range capital ship sensor, however future dedicated sensor ships will need to mount sensors capable of detection for hundreds of million of kilometers. Fighters will need to be designed for this ship soon, for the time being this ship is needed to train crew in carrier operations, as well as recovery and repair of smallcraft.

September 2045
3 Fuel harvesters completed, they are sent to saturn, ETA 1 Month. 3 More under construction.
October 2045
Queen Elizabeth 8 Finished. It's sent to train with our Edward VII escorts.
Our Grav survey ships complete overhaul, and are sent back to London after transferring significant fuel from our training squadrons.
November 2045
Survey of London A VI Moon 4 complete , while nothing additional is discovered, the team increases it's experience.
They are sent to London A 1.
December 2045
Commercial Jump Drive 36K research complete.
Increased Fuel production research started.
January 2046
Construction of fuel refinerys complete.
Construction of Falcon ASM complete
Construction of Commercial Yard B complete
Commercial Yard B is set to build another slipway, which will take 1 year.
Commercial Yard A  starts retooling for Handy 20 T colony ship, this will take 17 months .
Commercial interests have lobbied for the unused yard to be tooled for a luxury liner for the so far unprofitable Earth-Mars route, While the admiunistration is dubious, the fact remains that it is a commercial yard, and we are in funding shortages, so we acquiesce.
Code: [Select]
White Star class Luxury Liner    10,000 tons     324 Crew     522.9 BP      TCS 200  TH 150  EM 0
750 km/s     Armour 1-41     Shields 0-0     Sensors 1/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 1     PPV 0
MSP 33    Max Repair 37.5 MSP

Cryogenic Berths 1000    Passengers 750

150 EP Commercial Ion Drive (1)    Power 150    Fuel Use 11.93%    Signature 150    Exp 5%
Fuel Capacity 50,000 Litres    Range 7.5 billion km   (116 days at full power)

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes
Construction will be complete october next year, as the new slipway will be ready before then, a second of the class is planned.
A new naval yard is begun to construct Fast attack craft and corvettes. 12% of production is dedicated to it.
Remaining industrial capacity is redistributed, 40% now dedicated to automines for new mining colonies on comets Enke and Swift Tuttle, 5% to 2 new mass drivers for those colonies, 8% to finish our remaining maintenance facilities by end of this year, 5% to infrastructure and 30% unused to save funds.
Training of Queen Elizabeth Destroyers 4-7 suspended to save fuel, average training rate, 32%
Training of Edward VII 1 and 2 and Queen Elizabeth 8 continues at average grade 23%.
Survey of the solar system almost complete, Pioneers 1 and 2 return to earth for decomissioning.
All that remains is the Comet Hale-Bop, Asteriod 2009 YE7, and Asteriod 2000 OM67 Which is locaded near The dwarf world of Eris and its moon of Dysnomia, the first 2 have Resolution 1 & 2 taking the task, Resolution 3 will take care of the remaining 3.
Expansion complete of naval B, expansion of naval C resumed.
April 2046
Duke of York built on Earth, Crew training starts.
The Administrator of Earth has suffered an accident, his Elected replacement is the young Yara Zarate Manazanares
This female administrator graduated with high marks in Terraforming and Xenology, but her Average Wealth creation and Mining knowledge is valuable right now.
June 2046
The Matthew Skinner Geology team has increased itis skill.
Minerals discovered on Hale Bop: Neutronium 8k .7, Corbomite 9k .8, Tritanium 5k 1, Mercassium 15k .8, Vendarite 11k .8, Corundium 13k 1, Gallicite 22k 1
July 2046
Gravitational survey of London complete 1 additional jump point detected.
Illustrious 1 returns to sol to refuel and convene with geosurvey ships for a survey of the new system, it has been called Belfast.
Our thusfar unused Saturn Express Tankers and Saturn Express B Tanker are fuelled and sent to the London jump point to await the Illustrious 1, they shall be sent to Glasgow to help our other survey ship finish without running out of fuel.
October 2046
Handy 15 F Harvester 4 & 5 constructed, they are sent to Saturn and Harvester 6 is unpaused.
Work on Duke of York 2 is Resumed
November 2046
A civilian mining colony is established on 2002 VE 95, this asteriod contains 70k Duranium at 1 Accessability, an excellent resource, however we cannot afford to purchase the output right now, the 500 wealth per annum will be useful.
Newly elected Mars administrator Tsien Wu Wei has been killed in a suspicious accident, his Population growth inititives were effective, however it seems they made him a few enemies.
New administrator Cameron Shepard will continue Wu Weis Population growth inititives, as well as boosting the logistics of the fledgling colony.
Construction of the last of 25 construction factorys to replace those sent to mars is complete. Work is begun on a commercial spaceport to reduce loading time of colonists and loading of freighters taking goods to our colonies. It is high given priority and so will take 1 year.
The last Maintenance facilities needed to support 18kton cruisers is complete. 37 more are needed to fully support our aging heavy cruisers, however supporting them with constant maintenance supplies is less costly than origonally imagined, so the idea is held off.
January 2047
Slipway added to commercial B on Earth, one additional White Star is started and the slipway is set to expand capacity. Also on Naval A another duke of york is started, but immediately paused untill funds increase.
Our Survey squardon arrives in London, it is met by the returning tankers, which use the survey ships jump engines to return to the solar system. The survey squadron is sent to belfast.
Handy 15 F ^ is completed on Earth, the 3 slipways of commercial A are now empty and waiting for refit to be completed, the ship is sent to Saturn to join the rest of the harvesters, total production of fuel is now at 5,720,000, 720,000 coming from our harvesters at Saturn.
Research is now complete on increased fuel efficiency, new larger naval engines can be designed using this technology.
However research on even higher efficiency can be done in a short time, so a new higher efficiency 300 Ep size 20 engine is to be researched while efficiency research .7 will be queued, after this a new large engine will be designed for our new larger cruiser sized ships. The 300 EP engine research will require 6 months using half our labs.
Feburary 2047
Research into Missile agility 48 per msp completed, research into improving magazine ejection is started
The Matthew Skinner geology team has found a 9,156 K ton accessibility gallicite deposit on London A 1, and completed the survey. As London A 1 also has a Major deposit of Mercassium and a significant deposit of neutronium well as low accessability deposits of Sorium, Uridium and Corundium, and the alien Installation, colonization of the world is now a major priority.

The Illustrious enters the Belfast system.

Just a note but your carrier has only sufficient berths for two flight crew, or are you planning on using unmanned autonomous drones?
