Mercury training center, move move move you apes!
« on: September 20, 2013, 10:57:35 AM »
Hi,

I just realised (I'm 14 years into my pre-TN game) that none of my low tech units (on Earth), and none of my 2 mobile infantry units (Mercury Training center  ;D ) got any training percentage. Am I missing something, like needing to put them in PDC barracks?

My 2 mobiles each have as a leader a 200-train leader, and since one year. Surely they should have received a few %, right?

Do they have an officer assigned?

definitively yes

(totally unrelated question but as I have your attention: are civ ships using my fuel reserve? It seems so... or perhaps that's just my new ships produced?)

To my knowledge, civilian corp ships do not use fuel reserves. Gov't "civilian" ships do of course.

From the wiki:
Quote
Ground Forces Training Rating: Non-HQ Units subordinate to this officer get a chance to improve their Morale over time. Officer must command an HQ with units attached. If the officer commands a division, this bonus is halved, but applied to all non-HQ units in that division.
Are the units assigned to BHQ?

Best I can offer is to SM an BHQ in and see what effect it has.

I don't see how to add a new unit in SM mod (I'm in SM mod, no new button in ground units tab).

This is quite an undocumented feature if now you need a BHQ...

Look on the Ground Unit Training tab. Should be there someplace.

To the best of my knowledge, this is how ground forces training currently works.

In order to receive training the units must be on a colony surface, they cannot be inside a PDC or ship.

Training rating used is the training rating of the assigned brigade HQ officer plus half the training rating of the assigned divisional HQ officer. Training rating of the officer assigned to the actual combat unit has no effect.

To add ground units in SM mode, go to the GU training tab, select the type of ground unit you want to add from the list at the bottom(It is required to have researched the unit type before this) and hit the "add units" button on the lower right. This displays a prompt to enter how many of the selected units to add to the colony.

Regarding your fuel issue, as far as I'm aware civilian ships do not use your fuel stockpiles, however newly constructed ships will fill their fuel tanks(only to 10% if the class is designated as a tanker) from the stockpile.

...plus half the training rating of the assigned divisional HQ officer.

It's 1/4 unless Steve has changed it.

Just checked and it's definitely showing half the divisional commanders bonus in the training column on the ground unit screen. It may be that it was changed at some point.
