Title: Vessel overhauls
Post by: davidr on December 12, 2011, 08:25:25 AM
To undertake a general overhaul ( maintenance clock reduction , not refit to an improved design ) of vessels , do the vessels have to be either :-

a) orbiting a planet with a shipyard dedicated to the applicable design

b) orbiting a planet with generic shipyards

c) orbiting a planet with maintenance supplies

d) some other parameters

advice would be appreciated so that i can spread the overhauls throughout my colonies rather than sending all vessels to earth which is becoming overwhelmed with vessels required refits as well as overhauls.

Orbiting a colony with sufficient maintenance facilities (1 per 200 tons displacement) and minerals (typically a minor amount).  Note that 1 maintenance facility can handle any number of ships simultaneously, i.e. it only takes 5 facilities to overhaul 20x 1000 ton FAC, not 100 facilities.

How long does an overhaul take? Iàm overhauling my Surveyships at the moment, but there is nowhere to watch how long it take.  My 2 Ships are parked at Earth with a dedicated Shipyard and plenty Minerals/Supplys.  But they are overhauling since the last 6 Month.

1 month of time in overhaul rewinds 3 months of the maintenance clock.
