Changing infos on an alien race

Once a race is discovered, is it possible to change the portrait, flag and name?

As for the ships, there is a drop down box to change the theme used by the race, but it's not saved when you close the window, so is this broken?

Changes to races can be made via the race info screen. Just click Save before you close.

There should be a "Empire Name" pulldown in the upper-left corner.

Note that there's a good chance that computer-controlled races are not selectable here (outside of Designer Mode) - I don't remember and can't check because my Aurora install is on a new game that I started.
