Jump Point Distance Tech

I started a new game and assigned my own tech for the first time, but in order to build Jump Engines it says I must have the above tech.  I cannot find it anywhere in any of the research areas.  I assume this is me being stupid, please enlighten me.

Did you research Jump Point Theory yet?  That unlocks the 3 Jump engine techs - Squadron Size, Distance, and Efficiency (or something like that - it starts at 3).

Don't forget minimum size.

I have efficiency, size, jump radius and engine size.

Okay, got it - the Jump Point Distance tech mentioned is actually the Jump Point Radius tech.  Pretty confusing though.

EDIT - so what purpose does jump radius actually serve?

EDIT - so what purpose does jump radius actually serve?

When you perform a squadron jump, your "squadron" will appear within the jump point radius around the jumppoint. Larger jump point radius might come in handy, when you want to avoid a hostile jumppoint picket, i.e. you appear out of range of the enemies beam weapons, but they are inside your missile envelope or you want to move a scout through without it being blown to bits.

Fixed for v5.30. It now says Max Squadron Jump Radius instead of Jump Point Distance.
