Help with designing a fighter

I'm just asking for help with fighter design and the new engine and crew system

Fighter design very much depends on the role it is going to take.

Fighters typically don't have the space to spare for armour and shields so speed is usually their only real defence. Use maximum power on your engine design. It may be worth using the thermal reduction tech line to reduce the thermal signature of the engine as well to allow them to get closer to an enemy that is only using thermal sensors for early warning. Also decide on what tonnage of your fighter is going to be occupied by the engines and design a single engine of that size, there is a reduction in fuel consumption and cost between 2 size 1 engines and 1 size 2 engine.

Beam firecontrols can be specified for fighters which gives them a free 4x multiplier to tracking speed.

Fighters are typically only out of their carriers for short periods. As such you can take advantage of the reduced crew requirements and hence space for crew quarters if you set there deployment times lower. At 0.5 months crew requirments are halved, at 0.1 months they are reduced to 1/3rd.

alright, that design shows I have the right idea with this design I have, its meant as an ultra light interceptor meant to be launched for at most less then a day, although with the new crewing system I REALLY wish we could research AI and have uncrewed ships

Why not just give it an engineering space, more guns and a bigger engine to compensate?

For your ultra-light fighters, did you select fighter only for the gauss fc? Fighter fc's have a trackig speed bonus and 20k km/s is quite low, seeing you have inertial fusion drives tech.
