How to explore Ruins

So, I've got a planet with some ruins, and my Teams tab shows I have a xenology team on the planet.  Do they just automatically start excavating, or do I need to do something to start the process?

You need construction brigades to dig out the goodies after your xeno teams have found out what are possible to salvage.
