Aurora PVI-5000 dead
« on: October 27, 2017, 10:46:31 PM »
My 5. 5 year old Aurora PVI-5000 is showing Int. Error E031 which from a 30 second google search seems to mean it is dead and the only solution is to replace it.
It may have died a few days ago as something tripped our safety switch while we were out and I'm not sure what.  The last time I am certain it was functioning normally was probably a couple of weeks ago when I was last out there.
Although it has served me well it would seem from my quick search there have been quite a few issues with Aurora inverters in recent times and that they have somewhat fallen out of favour with people recently.
While once obsessed I haven't really given solar much of a thought for a few years now.  I think the Fronius Primo may be a good choice though.
They are one of the current options my original installer (Keen2BGreen) are now using and to my somewhat surprise it seems they are now Hippiesparx (Positronic) preferred inverter also.
I have 23 x 245W REC panels and have the perfect space for another panel or 2 to make what is currently a string of 11, a string of 12 or 13 but I guess this wouldn't be worth anyones time.
I'm guessing a new 260W or 275W REC panel would live happily enough with my old 245W ones?
Probably not worth anyones time to install an extra panel but I will ask the question even though I am really just looking for a replacement inverter.
I'll contact a few companies that deal with Fronius inverters and let you know how I go.  ???????????

You're in the wrong forum friend.  This is the forum for Aurora 4x, a game about building spaceships and fighting aliens.  We don't have anything to do with Aurora solar panel equipment.

You might still want to check out the game though, it's free and pretty cool.

OMG - When I saw "Fronius inverters" in the last line I thought it was a subtle joke post about technobabble.  But I googled it and those things really exist!  Who would have thunk it....

Spam bots now use copy&pasted messages to appear like normal users and hide the advertisement link in their signature. Might be that forum just blocked the signatures and that's that.
