(Spoiler) Year: 2nd January 2025
« on: April 02, 2011, 06:43:30 PM »
So, can someone explain why this happened in a system 1 JP from Sol in the SECOND day of a Campaign?

The game started in: 1st January 2025 and now its 2nd January 2025! I'm almost certain I'm going to die :'(

The purple circles are wormholes right? If it is, I just found one. My explorers just arrived in the system so the Sensors are still charging up. Do after a wormhole is created Invader ships start arriving or it takes time? I didn't even had time to actually design any ships, and theInvaders come right to my door!

How can I defend myself? Advice please?

Leave that system and don't come back for a long time.  I have survived wormholes by fleeing as soon as I jumped into a system and being lucky enough not to have anything follow me out. It's happened to me twice, in both cases I kept an eye on the other side of that JP and nothing came through for years.  I don't know whether I just got lucky or whether that's a fairly common occurrence, though.

Sound advice. Keep an eye on the jump point and, if possible, camp it with warships or defense platforms (essentially engine-less ship designs) at all times.

I'll do as you say, also no movement has occured until now (24 April 2025), so I think they'll take some time to come yet. Plenty of time to design some Space Stations and tug them to the JP. I think it will be somewhat easy to kill them thought as I started the game with some pretty high tech like Solid Core Drives and Lasers up to 40cm, good shields and armor too.

I just wonder how a Wormhole appeared in the second day of my Campaign...

I had Precursors and Invaders on in a game i had. Was amusing to observe them slugging it out. Eventually the Invaders won out not without taking some casualties though. Was a few years before they decided to start expanding. Eventually they built a jumpgate construction ship and sent a Grav survey ship to explore the Sol system. Needless to say the jump gate ship got blown away by my home system beam ships. But solely because it was undefended and stationary on the JP. The Grav survey ship proved to be way to fast to catch and ended up having to predict where it would be 4-6 survey points ahead of time so i could send a beam armed TG to intercept. It scanned half the system before it was taken out. Then a year or so later the process repeated with my ships on the other side of the system low fuel from the months long chase and in need of overhauls.

At that point a Missile ship came out of the yard and i figured I'd see how it would do against the jump gate ship. It was a small ship intended to be escorted by a jump drive equipped sister and a antimissile ship. By itself firing salvos of 4 missiles every 40-60 secs not one had managed to make it. All of them were destroyed by CIWS point blank fire. I've no idea how many CIWS were on board but nothing got past them. I had to send it home with its tail between its legs and abandon the idea of a over haul for the Beam TG instead just refueling and resupplying. I figured it was more important that a Invader gate construction ship not live to establish a 2 way gate to leave my system open to invasion so i had no choice to leave the newest Grav survey ship to snoop around unopposed. With the second gate ship down my fleet was again out of position to take down the Grav survey ship.

Eventually it outraced me to the last predicted survey point then skipped into the nearest JP. Presumably to start it all over again. When the wormhole moved from the Precursor conquered system to the last viable jump chain 2 points from Sol I had more or less thrown in the towel. Sol had 3 JP's total 1 was a Invader conquered Precursor System. The other was a dead end chain with 2 JP's leading to a closed of system with a few asteroids. The Precursor survey ship had gone in here so i wasn't too concerned about what it would be doing there. And finally a chain of systems which was my only viable source of early game expansion. It had about 4-5 points. One of which now contained a wormhole and would therefore start getting invader activity. That prevented my ongoing grav and geo surveys being conducted in the systems beyond that system. Then 5.30 came out and I didn't have to peek through my fingers after every 5 day increment that could have spelt my doom.

The End. Or to be more precise it was the beginning of the end had it continued....

Edit: spoilorized ships and tatics of AI as well as a few grammar corrections.

Small update: (Really small)

No Invader ships detected yet. Year: 12/March/2029

I think that either they are really busy killing someone else, or they are just lazy to move a fleet around here. (Not that I'm complaining)

Also I noticed something in some systems: There where two Orange circles written LP1 and LP2 what do these do?

Maybe they know how to come out of wormholes but don't know how to traverse normal jump points?

LPs are Leap Points, unless that's just my imagination. They're intra-system mini jump points. Ships can transit through one and pick any other LP in the same system as their destination. They sound nice in theory, but in practice I haven't found them in particularly convenient locations, personally.

Lagrange Points.

Yeah, I'll send a scout to see what's happening. But I doubt they don't even have a Jump Engine design; from the other Spoiler Threads, it seems that these guys are Killers: 80cm Laser Cannons, Plasma Torpedos, 60,000 Ton Dreadnoughts that make you put even Civilians with CIWS to help in System Defence Engagements... A Jump Engine seems ridiculously simple if you follow it this way.

Also my Empire is getting bigger, I got 2 Full colonies on Sol, 3 State Controled Mining Complexes (Venus, Mercury and Titan, along with 4 Civilian Mining Complexes (Callisto, Charon, Deimos and Pandora). I got lucky this time almost all of the Planets and Moons on Sol are resource Rich (Or atleast average). And I got a Sensor Outpost on Alpha Centauri. Things are going quite well for me, no Precursors, Swarm not even NPRs just peace. It even gets boring not having a Bug to kill. :)

But when do new NPRs show up? I have to scout some systems for it to happen, or it occurs without my intervention?

Thanks for the Helpful tips by the way.

The default is to have one NPR generated somewhere when the game is created. Other NPRs may be generated the first time a system is explored, either by you or an NPR.

Hey, thanks! I thought I would need to SM NPRs everytime I wanted a new NPR race.
