LOL. I was wondering if an Aurorite might be the culprit, but found this article https://www.sciencealert.com/introducing-steve-a-newly-discovered-light-in-the-sky after googling around which says it's from an animated movie.  It's still a pretty bizarre read, though, especially when they talk about wanting pictures of Steve.

there really ARE trans-Newtonian elements!  the MIB's are on the way! (as soon as they get Steve photos so they can be sure they're probing the right guy!)
