I'll just post my here then so everyone can see it.  I already get enough spam, so I don't care.  Just somehow make your email stand out as being from here so I don't delete it.
Just so no bot takes it over.  Write it without the [ ] and [at] is @

I'm fine with using email.
I'll send my adress to Panopticon.
And if any other players want it just let me know and I'll PM it to you.

I'm fine with mails as well.  As long as it makes it easier for you.  I was thinking that you were missing a few things in some PMs, but I guess it gets a bit crazy after a while.  I'm already starting to lose sight a bit by just having conversations with 2 people.

fine by me too.
furthermore, i doubt that on a Geek-niche-nerd-extreme! forum about a highly difficult learning curve of a game with no graphical interface worth of mention (which i still find nice, the map galaxy thing) there'd be many trolls or spammers. Even then, no probs with the pms thing to send the email address...i do have five or six of those after all.

Im cool with emails, might be an idea to PM them to each other rather than post them publicly as a precaution though.

I wouldn't mind moving the classified infos over to mail.

If someone's strictly against using mail an idea that would work in the forums but depend on Erik and settings is to create a section that's locked for everyone but the faction leader and Panopticon. That'd be quite a deed to ask of Erik, but on the other side it'd 'archive' all of the information of the community game on the forums - if factions drop out, are destroyed or the game in one way or another 'finishes' those sections could be unlocked so everyone could comprehensibly follow all the decisions and maneuveurs of all empires. I don't exactly know how access permissions work here (or in any other forum, to be honest) so I'm not sure that's easy to implement or supported by the administrative.

And another thing!

The PM system, while functional enough, isn't really set up for me to have 7 conversations at once that effectively, I can do it but it becomes likely that I will start missing something.

Would you guys be up for moving the PM discussion to email? I have no problem sharing my address with you if you all agree, and gmail can organize conversations better.

Up to you all, I won't stop playing regardless of the decision.

My thought was you would need a messenger to get through to learn about what happens out of system, so if your survey ship gets jumped and you don't have any back up in the system with it you won't know something happened until it is overdue.

On the topic of rules, several folks have sent me info regarding diplomatic teams, I should let you all know that you are responsible for diplomacy and that will be handled in RP, the game has a way of making everybody become the best of friends after a few years of diplomacy and then they start randomly throwing tech at each other with no regard for the players decision, so I let your relations all decay to hostile so that we don't have to worry about it until or if you guys want to. I can always SM any required level of cooperation.

I was wondering - How is communication between systems handled? Will we be 'instantly aware' of what happens in another system - implying a means to transport message either through empty space or JPs - or will we need couriers?
We're still far from needing this, but once we reach out for other systems it'd be an important thing to know ahead, since we might have to design and plan differently. And in case that messages need to be relayed but we're in charge of our faction, will we even be informed if a ship vanishes or anything unplanned happened to it before its report is due, or will we be able to 'command' it and only have to pay attention to what the command back at Earth knows of and what it doesn't?

was thinking about a couple of ways to RP's this...
one would be a topic per factions, were we could "write" up what happened (if we wish to share it with the others)
another would be a topic called something like "round table" were we all can speak like if we were the ambassadors/diplomatic responsibles for peace (like un committee)

I just incorporated Korea into my faction's background and controled area. I hadn't yet seen anyone 'claiming' it yet so I hope not to ruin anyone's planning =) If so, please tell me and we'll work something out!

I could like it if all who are playing would start a thread here [...]
Now there's two posts with their empires underneath it - Thread or post now? xD
