Friendly Precursors
« on: November 02, 2013, 06:04:53 AM »
Well, friendly might be taking it a bit too far.

I've run into a pair of Precursor ships that seem resolutely non-hostile.  They've been floating around a system that I'm settling, occasionally turning on their active sensors, but never attacking.  When I sent a fleet out, they simply avoided it.  Their sensors and engines are miles ahead of mine, so we've just left each other alone so far.

Anyone else run into something like this?
The Sorium must flow

Those are Precursor scout ships, they don't have any weapons.

Boarding party! Free tech!
Or, target practice!

". . .  We know nothing about them, their language, their history or what they look like.  But we can assume this.  They stand for everything we don't stand for.  Also they told me you guys look like dorks. "

Well those scouts are very fast. So it is not that easy to destroy or capture those ships.

Hmm, perhaps you could drop some mines around the system with long range high speed missiles?

I suppose that would work, if you are able to lure the scouts into the mine range. You can also use small fast fighters to destroy or cripple them. When their engines are gone you can capture them easily.

I've also had precursor troop ships act like this, but they didn't use active sensors so I don't think that's what you're dealing with.
