Just want to run this past you to make sure I'm calculating monthly incomes even remotely correctly :)
The Commonwealth has a Core population on Earth, with a base Tax rate of 65% and a +10% Capitalist Bonus from a trait, their Industrial Index is the default 1, they have an Economic Health of 5
Earth has an MI from Planetary type and atmosphere of 5
and the following mineral deposits
| Level | MI | Rating |
Heavy Metals | Normal | 1 | 12 |
Radioactives | Abundant | 1.5 | 17 |
Non-Metallics | Normal | 1 | 10 |
Industrial Metals | Motherlode | 2 | 28 |
for a total MI of 10.5 and a rating of 120+170+100+280=670
MI * rating gives an exploitation index of 7035
So Income works out at
Exploitation Index * industrial Index (7035*1) of 7035
I assume the Capitalist Bonus is added here so 7035+703.5 = 7739
So, Nominal Income is 7739
65% of that for base tax is 5030
75% of that for population adjustment is 3773
100% of that for EH level of 5 leaves a monthly tax income of 3773
Hopefully I haven't gone too wrong here (I have 10 factions to rework income for if I'm wrong!)

Industrial bonus applies to build rates and the like, not income. Capitalist is what you are looking for.
-
Industrial bonus applies to build rates and the like, not income. Capitalist is what you are looking for.
er oops, typo, amended the top post.
Also the trait description on page 67 for Industrial bonus might benefit from having that it applies to build rates etc in it.
-
I assume the Industrial Bonus is added here so 7035+703.5 = 7739
This part is wrong. Industrial Bonus doesn't apply here. So the income is 7035.
-
does the correction to Capitalist make that correct? or does that add to the base tax rate?
-
It adds to income.
-
so like
So Income works out at
Exploitation Index * industrial Index (7035*1) of 7035
So, Nominal Income is 7035
65% of that for base tax is 4573
75% of that for population adjustment is 3430
100% of that for EH level of 5 is 3430
10% of that for Capitalist is 343
For a monthly total of (3430+343) 3773
-
As I understand it it should look like
So, Nominal Income is 7035
65% (+10% for capitalist) of that for base tax is 4573
75% of that for population adjustment is 3430
100% of that for EH level of 5 is 3430
-
That might not be clear so let me spent a little bit more time expanding on what I just said
As I understand capitalist it adds to your tax rate. So if your base tax is 65% capitalist would change it to 75% without penalties for excessive taxation.
-
65% is base tax rate without the capitalist
so it would look like
Nominal Income is 7035
65% (+10% for capitalist) of that for base tax is 5276
75% of that for population adjustment is 3957
100% of that for EH level of 5 is 3957
-
so like
So Income works out at
Exploitation Index * industrial Index (7035*1) of 7035
So, Nominal Income is 7035
65% of that for base tax is 4573
75% of that for population adjustment is 3430
100% of that for EH level of 5 is 3430
10% of that for Capitalist is 343
For a monthly total of (3430+343) 3773
This is how I intended it. Income being the amount after modification from EH.

Excellent, so the entire example would be;
The Commonwealth has a Core population on Earth, with a base Tax rate of 65% and a +10% Capitalist Bonus from a trait, their Industrial Index is the default 1, they have an Economic Health of 5
Earth has an MI from Planetary type and atmosphere of 5

for a total MI of 10.5 and a rating of 120+170+100+280=670
MI * rating gives an exploitation index of 7035
So Income works out at
Exploitation Index * industrial Index (7035*1) of 7035
So, Nominal Income is 7035
65% of that for base tax is 4573
75% of that for population adjustment is 3430
100% of that for EH level of 5 is 3430
10% of that for Capitalist is 343
For a monthly total of (3430+343) 3773
As this is actually pretty complex to work out, I'd suggest a similar example to this being included in the Income section of the rules. It would certainly have helped me figure it out without having to pester you ;D
-
I'm looking at the relevant section of the rules (page 57, Collect Income), and there is an example there. The only thing the example doesn't include is the trait bonus.
-
I was more thinking breaking it down to show all the different steps in a single example, there are those like me who get sidetracked easily
-
I did include most of your example in the multi-faction start example.
