from an attack by another race and radioactive (there is a poignant part about seeing a small child's body). The remaining humans
are from the fleet and need to gather weapons and ammo from Earth to outfit a warship they have and hope to use. The short
story is from the early to mid-30s and has to do with the US fighting 'enemies' (Germany and Japan) and the last US BB has been
fitted with what is literally radar fire control. There are parts where part of a DD damaged is cut off and welded only another. The
battle in a smoke screen was pretty good. any help? thanks!
PS: I remember the ship was a battleship called Luna (and I had these and other ships in a modified Traveller game done in a
parking lot with 2-d hand drawn ships back in the 70s).
