What Will You Do, When C# Arrives In Your Home?
« on: November 18, 2019, 09:38:54 AM »
Joking title aside, once C# is out and about, what's the first game you're gonna do? Myself i'll be doing 2 simultaneous first games, the first being changing my Community Game over to C#. The second I want to do either a "MonsterShipGirls" run (I asked some friends what kind of game I should do, one said Fantasy Monsters as Ships (AKA Huge dragons, Shoggoths, etc) the other said Shipgirls like Kancolle/Azure Lane. I said frakkit and combined both) or a Warhammer 40k run.

Really excited about the Ground Units stuff and can't wait to see hordes of "Zombiegirl Infantry" and "Mindflayergirl Shock Troopers" conquering planets.

Play it.  ;D

Specifically: I'm going to take take generic human race versus generic bug race and smash them together like I'm 8 years old again.

First, I'm probably going to reread the changes list to try to figure out how all the new stuff works. Then I'll probably spend hours just playing around with ground unit design.

I usually don't flavor my games on a specific setting, but basing my first one on WH40k is tempting. Steve's campaign is really fitting the flavor perfectly, and I want to try a ground unit heavy game (using them for colony defenses instead of fleets, marine forces on large warships, etc) so it will probably fit well.

I'm going to make a starleague era battletech campaign, to test out the new ground combat fun. Making dropship-equivalents will be entertaining too.

I'm gonna do a game with at least two NPRs at game start and see if I can't get a real war going. With the new A.I hopefully it won't turn into a steamroll every time. Also, big opportunity to try some new things out! I think that there's gonna be a big shakeup in the meta and I want to be in on it.

Seriously - I'm losing hope of waiting for Aurora's release before my grandchildren are born. Tomorrow I'm 46 years old.

Happy birthday! S dnem ??rozhdeniya!

My Aurora 1890 game has been ready to start for months now so that'll be my first priority. I do also want to run an Aurora 1980 campaign where Cold War doesn't stop because Trans-Newtonian tech saves USSR economy and we get Cold War turns Hot in Sol with NATO and Warsaw Pact duking it out on the plains of Mars with contemporary ground forces and so on. Definitely going to use the rules regarding habitats and space stations to build some colossal structures in both campaigns!

1890? Wow, don't you have spaceships before the year 2000?

When C# comes out I'll probably be knee deep in MW5, so it might be a while before I do anything. But my first game I think I'd do a semi-authoritarian government bent on 'oversight' of the surrounding space lanes of any human populated world. Purely for the preservation of humanity of course. To do this, I'm envisioning big battlewagons fit with layered energy defenses (longest range particle beams, biggest bore plasma, and fastest firing rail), with each ship sporting a decent amount of 'unreloadable' missile launchers (probably .33x or .25x size). Each ship would be fairly independent, with the caveat of FACs, while each world is responsible for it's own small task force (probably only 1-2 mainline warships and a handful of escorts) while the main fleets are stationed at bases set up at key junctions in the lanes. Probably will make extensive use of minefields (since seeding asteroids with PDFs would presumably no longer be a thing).

My plan is to dive right in and do a typical Earth-Corp empire type game, but I want to see how C# Aurora scales compared to VB so will likely be pushing galaxy size quite significantly beyond the 1000-14000 I normally use, plus I'll probably also throw in a half dozen NPRs on galaxy creation.

Rather curious to see how it goes on my 3700x.
