African Union
The Union’s focus is changing to emphasize civilian designs now that a treaty has been signed with the Alliance. The ODB Mk 1.5 and the Missile Defense PDC below are the last Union military designs from before the rebellion and the One Minute War.

Reich
Over the last several years the Reich slipways have been clogged with Raumarine ships undergoing a large-scale, and expensive, refit program. This refit is modernizing the sensors of the fleet’s ships, improving anti-missile efficiency, and expanding the magazine capacity, all vital to maintain the Raumarine’s dominance in missile warfare. Because of this refit program construction of the new Von Roeder class dreadnought (below) has been postponed, as the Heavy Units Yard on Earth is currently the only yard capable of building such a large ship, and it is completely occupied with refitting Hessen class battleships.
Once the refit program is completed, the Reich plans to divert approximately fifty percent of its yard capacity to improving and expanding its civilian transport fleet, and possibly building a class of terraformers.

The Von Roeder DN is the ultimate expression of Raumarine technology to date. The Von Roeder possesses heavier shielding than the Hessen, but has slightly thinner armor. Due to the size of the jump engine, the Von Roeder cannot devote as much space to weapons as the Hessen, and therefore has 60% of the Hessen’s broadside, and just over half of the magazine capacity of a Hessen Mk 2.

The Mk 3 version of the venerable Blucher class cruiser boasts an improved sensor suite, and increased magazine space. The Raumarine’s strategists have decided that the increased magazine space and better sensors would more than balance out the nearly 10% reduction in speed. The Reich is coming to terms with the fact that the bulk of their interstellar travel is likely going to be through the Hamburg system, which is buried deep within a class 7 nebula. The nebula seriously limits the speed of unarmored ships, therefore the Reich is currently considering refitting its colony and freight ships with heavier armor to increase their speed in the Hamburg system.

Imperial Japanese Navy
The Japanese Empire has been focused on transforming itself into an interstellar power, and that focus is reflected in the latest designs for its ships. The Nagato class jump ship is an obvious result, but so too are the Kongo Mark 3’s, with their improved engineering spaces, enlarged stores capacity, and larger fuel tanks. The Kongo Mark 3’s are truly interstellar vessels, and are likely a harbinger of similar improvements for other IJN ships.

The Mk 3 version of the Ganga Jump Ship is built around the Mark 2 J6000 jump drive, which is smaller than the Mk 1 Jump Drive. This decrease allows the Mk 3 to devote more space to engines, increasing the overall speed, and to nearly double the fuel capacity.

Soviet Union
The USSR has completely changed its ship design strategy since the disaster in the Novaran system. Gauss cannons have been abandoned and have been replaced in the point defense role by railguns and anti-missiles. In addition, the Russian Fleet is currently upgrading to ion engines, increasing its maximum speed across the board.

The Kirov Mk III never saw service, and in the aftermath of the disastrous battles in the Novaran system the Soviet Navy pushed through this design as an alternative. The Mark IV replaces the gauss cannons that performed so poorly in Novara with 10 cm DP railguns, and includes the Mk 3 Dual Purpose Fire Control system, a huge improvements from the old Mk 2 Fire Controls.
New, larger, reactors had to be installed to accommodate the increased power draw of the 10 cm railguns, and the new fire control systems required more than twice the space of the older systems, so the ship’s armor protection was reduced and the designers were forced to accept a slightly reduced speed to keep the design’s “mass-creep” down to 250 tons.

The Mark V version includes the Military Ion Engine system which increases the design’s maximum speed by better than 50%. There are some concerns within the Fleet because of the new engine’s demonstrated propensity to explode when damaged, but the general consensus is that the speed gain is more than worth the damage control problems.

The Mark 2 is a direct result of the failure of the gauss cannon systems in battle with the Novarans. The radical redesign of the Moskva’s reveals Moscow’s desperation to field a capable anti-missile unit in the days immediately after the fleet’s return from Novara. This design includes anti-missile missile systems that are all “off the shelf” in terms of technology, and was rushed into service.
All gauss cannon systems and their fire controls were replaced by the anti-missile missile launchers and their associated fire controls.
