Galactic Chronicles: Chapter 0 - Prologue
« on: October 12, 2010, 07:19:08 AM »
The year is 2181.
Since the discovery of the Trans-Newtonian elements in 2012, mankind expand through the know universe, colonizing new worlds in the nearest stars linked to Sol System via "Jump Points", gravitational wells that allow starships to travel huge distances in seconds.

The colonization process for each planet lasted years, but allow humans to walk and breathe in worlds where one hundred years before no life forms can live.

What was called nations, becomes now regions of a new multicultural, worldwide and galactic government body that spreads it's influence and it's control on nearly twenty planets. This body, called the "United Systems", was ruled by a parliament composed by 29 senators that represent theplanets and a chairman, elected from them, that presides over the meetings and act as the parliament head and spokesperson.
Tipically, each senator act also as a governor of the planet that it represent, or a sector of influence over more than one planet, but it can be also a scientist or a military officer.

Starships were built for commercial, military and exploration purposes and they were placed under the command of the newly formed System Starfleet, the biggest branch of the United Systems Armed Forces that command every military vessel that navigate through the know galaxy. Along with the Starfleet, a newly and high tech land army was created, the United Systems Army, with the purpose of the protection of the colonies.
Last but not least, the United Systems Marine Corps, the younger of them, a mix of starships and land forces born to fight in space.

On planets, large corporations lead the markets, built commercial starships, found mining colonies and manage shipyards.

Peace and prosperity dominates through these years, and mankind enters in a Golden Age that seems to never ends.

But the humans discovery of the galaxy is just started...
