Is it just me....
...or does the rank insignia for the Warrant Officer, Class 1 look like a lion and unicorn having intimate relations with the circle in the middle?
-
It's just you....
Seriously though, I think that it's what happens when you shrink something a little too much.

The Lion and Unicorn are known as "supporters" of the heraldric badge in the center.
-
Just have to post more to get a new rank
-
Erik,
Is there a chart which shows how many posts are needed for each rank? Also, why do some people get US Army and other ranks?
-
By default the ranks are Brit because Steve is. As for the others, they asked and supplied the insignia. For the chart, I don't think so. I'll make one though.

This is one of 2 ways I know to annoy a real WO Class I about their insiginia; the other is to refer to the rank as 'Tate and Lyles' after a well known brand of sugar in the UK

THAT's where I know it from! Lyle's Golden Syrop was an instrumental part of my childhood, along with Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk and rhubarb pie.
Excuse me, I have a hankering for some haggis, neeps & tatties.

Just back from the hallowed land last week - both the weather and the haggi were excellent! (well apart from the usual Edinburgh lazy wind)
But the REAL treat were the tattie scones - we found a great wee baker shop in Raeburn Place in Stockbridge that did their own home made ones rather than the mass produced rubbish - truely excellent!

Heh... I didn't quite mean that as a good thing
-
Erik,
I can't stand haggis (or laver bread for that matter)
-

Actually, it sounds pretty good to me.
And... ...I like haggis.
Note, I had butchers in the family. If you'll eat hot dogs, you might as well eat haggis (unless you don't like oats).

Haven't tried that but I did recently try a Seaweed Ale from a brewery in Alloa, Scotland. It wasn't bad.

Ah well, ale that's a completely different issue....
