I enjoy reading the fiction while I'm 'working'.  I cannot play Aurora here but reading the forums is allowable so I enjoy reading others stories if they are willing to write them.

FYI my .02 is only keep doing it if it doesn't feel like 'work'.  If you want to keep it going for it's own sake, great and others will enjoy it.  If you have to force yourself into it, do something else :)

[ooc]First one in a long while! I hope to come back to updating regularly.[/ooc]

January 11th – February 11th 2312
Research continues at a steady pace with the research into internal fusion drives being finished along with a basic prototype turret. The new engine gives 160 more thrust for the same size and fuel consumption as their magneto-plasma drives. Research into better turrets, and a new engine design begin, along with some labs be allocated to help with armor research.

March 11th
Luna finally becomes able to support life on its surface, although a distinct lack of water makes it hard to sustain life outside of the habitats, but efforts have begun to ready the moon’s surface for water, since if it was to be added in its current state it would have devastating consequences for those living on the moon, now and in the future. Reallocation of terraforming plants from Luna to Mars begins.

April 11th – 11th May
Research into composite armor is finished, although there are currently no warships being fielded by the Congress that could make use of the new armor.  Research into a reduced thermal signature and basic infrared lasers are completed on Earth, on Titan a breakthrough into the alien ruins on Titan has led to the deciphering of their symbols and language, which is surprisingly human-like, with the grammar closely resembling the Germanic languages. They appear to have a been a TL4 civilization with a population of 250 million on Titan on the time of the colony’s destruction, as it was clearly not abandoned. The Ruins are estimated to be around 250 million years old. Only 31 facilities remain intact enough to be salvaged by human engineers.

June 11th – July 11th
A big month for Hope as all of the reclaimable infrastructure on Earth has been fully exploited and rebuilt, although large portions of the planet were unexploitable. The Governor of New Seattle was forced to resign after a failed attempt at assassination left him without the ability to think on the level of a normal human being, he will be replaced by the up and coming Ethan Wells who has a large number of fields that he is fluent in.

August 11th – September 11th
Quiet months, not much happened really…

October 11th
Big news, the first two warships of Hope have been launched today, and have taken up geostationary orbit around Earth before they will head out to Titan to assist in an ongoing min-war with the small defensive structures activated during the excavation of the ruins, although they aren’t expected to be much use beyond taking down the satellites and giving access to the latest in medical technology to the combatants.

November 11th – December 11th
The Automated defenses have been successfully put down, although we were forced to remotely drop a small nuke on their command center and sacrifice some of the buildings we may have recovered. Other than that relatively quiet months.

Is anyone still interested in this, if you are I will be glad to continue since my school life is finally cooling down to the point and I just had my Aurora flame reignited.

[ooc]BACK! I had fun with this one, although not much happened, and an NPR is lurking just outside of my sight range, I can tell because I saw a contact for like 10 seconds and then it disappeared, very spooky, but I decided that was too quick for the untrained staff on New Seattle to pick up.[/ooc]

March 11th the first orbital habitat has been completed, it is an absolutely massive construction that can easily be seen down Earth, it is due for departure sometime in the future to orbit of Mars, once the tugs have been completed.

April 11th Washington A III reaches a population of 7 million and is declared a full colony by The Congress giving its citizens the full rights and freedoms that a normal citizen on Earth enjoys along with the abolishment of martial law for the colony. The colony also renames itself to New Seattle, because the climate on the planet is very reminiscent of the area on Earth, and that the system was named after the state of Washington.

May 11th – July 11th Slow quiet months, research has churned out an experimental damage control robot that would be installed on a ship in order to do emergency repairs in environments that a human couldn’t be sent into, such as an area blocked off by a bulkhead because of a hull breach, also the first experimental shield systems are designed by ICO Corporation and presented to The Congress which deems them worthy of further research.

August 11th a GU training facility is finished on New Seattle and work begins on training local defense forces for the colony, although heavy equipment will not brought in on concerns of inciting the population with fears of governmental oppression.

September 11th – November 11th Research Ahoy! 3 new items of import to Hope have recently been researched, namely the beginnings of an experimental ship based turret system which would allow more lasers to placed on a ship per tonnage, and it would allow full 360 coverage of the ship, the second is what have come to be known as the ICO alpha shields, which are an improvement on their original design, but have shown to be too power intensive for current reactors, and lastly a missile based ECM has been developed and it is hoped that against an assailant this would make our missiles much more robust.

December 11th – January 11th 2312 Another year, another chance to blown to pieces by a hostile alien, but other than that nothing of import has happened over the last few months.

[ooc]Back again!!!!![/ooc]

December 28th -  February 28th 2309 Extremely quiet months that saw the first humans set foot on the Martian Surface since Space X was forced to abandon its colonies in 2078, needless to say a significant amount of infrastructure was left behind and the  burgeoning colony has claimed these left of spots for themselves, along with advanced radio broadcasting system that has the scientists back on Earth jumping for joy, since it can relay radio waves from Mars to Earth without them losing any of their potency.

March 28th – April 28th More quiet months, research continues along the current routes it always has, along with some new military routes, and the population of Washington III surpasses 3 million people.

May 28th When we go through a wormhole to the system designated as Seattle the Diet detects a wreck of around 35kt orbiting Seattle A-II, It immediately hopes back to Sol and broadcasts its message on Open Airs much to the lament of The Congress, but along with the discovery of this comes the realization that they are not alone and that not all beings will be benign and friendly. The Congress passes through the creation of their first military ship, which they christen the Elector Destroyer. The Ship itself will stretch the limits of Hoptian military technology and ship building capabilities, being capable of 5,150 km/s, but unable to go through jump points, but this is not a problem as the confiscated jump gate was positioned on the JP from Sol to Washington.

June 28th In the mountains of New Zealand scouts from Hope come across an derelict military base, untouched by the nukes and within they discover several ship parts that appear to have been hastily assembled, it is currently unknown what purpose they served.

July 28th – October  13th Quiet days, Luna and Washington grow in size, while Mars appears to stagnating, except for regular deliveries of supplies and goods to the new colony. Research into the next gen of reactor is finish and research into a new engine are started.

November 13th When the Geo survey vessel finally gets around to surveying Titan, it finds something extraordinary, a giant underground colony by an unknown race of aliens, The Congress quickly declares a plant to colonize and study the ruins on Titan, hoping that I could bring them some edge.

December 13th – January 13th  2310  The first human sets foot on Titan, and regular shipments of colonists to Mars begins as well, and humanity finally passes the .75 billion mark for population once again.

February 13th – March 13th Work begins on humanity’s first orbital habitat, it will be equipped with 2 housing facilities and 8 terraforming modules, although a tug for it will have to built.

April 13th – June 13th Incredibly quiet months, nothing of import has happened thus far.

July 13th – September 6th Research into new lasers is completed and the new research labs come online on Mars as well, which has seen a great surge in population going from .2 million to 2.1 million in less than a year, The Congress markets this a success of their colonization program, but in reality it was the private corporations that achieved this.

October 13th – December 6th 2310 The end of the first decade since humanity was finally able to reach towards the stars, it has been a tremendous decade with many things being accomplished, and the most tantamount discovery was that, that we are in fact no alone in the galaxy.

January 1st 2311 – February 11th The Language of the ruins on Titan has been cracked, but it appears that the people who established this colony were violently flushed out by some unknown force, even more disturbing is that the Xeno team found 30 skeletons of the beings locked up in a bunker underneath the settlement. The beings themselves were insectoid in nature and had two prehensile pincers that were most likely used to manipulated their technology, and judging from their mouths they preferred their food liquefied. They called themselves, The Unilat Collective.

[ooc]I haven't abandoned this, though school is flooring me with HW currently and updates will hopefully happen once a week.[/ooc]

December 17th - January 17th 2308 Shipments of Infrastructure and people begin to Washington A, which has become to be called as the new home for humanity, so far over 25 million people have reserved seats on colony ships to the planet. The Congress has been kept busy over the past few months trying to pass legislature about what rights a colony has over the main government in order to give colonies limited autonomy, and the debate to rename their country continues, but so far no name has caught on.

February 17th 4 new research stations come online this month and are assigned to begin research into an experimental particle beam, although the funds allocated to this are kept secret from the public in order to prevent an uproar.

March 17th – June 14th A fairly quiet few months, the Outsystem Colony has reached 1 million people, the fastest growth of a colony yet, due to advances in ship engines allowing much larger loads to shipped back and forth between the colonies, although the colony ship to Luna is still of the first gen due to The Congress having an attitude of “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Research into the Particle beam is going smoothly, although it is still on a do not talk about it basis in the government, and research into magneto-plasma drives just finished.

July 23rd The Chicago system is explored, but it is a bust system of little use, consisting of two red giants with a single orbiting dwarf planet. A research lab is recovered underneath
Area 51 in the US, with the computers containing detailed information on a new type of missile launcher, although it appears that much of the data on these computers was purged hastily around the time of the nuclear cataclysm.

August 13th A new militarily aimed project comes into existence, improvements to existing missiles are now planned by The Congess’s military board. 2 new JP have been discovered in the Washington System, although plans to explore them are delayed at the current moment due to a plan to expand colonies within the Sol system.

September 13th – October 13th A colony is established on Mars, although it is just infrastructure at this point, it has been designated as a research base by The Congress, and the planet will enjoy the highest educational standards that Hope can provide.

November 13th Another JP is found, but mysteriously this one has a mysterious metal object floating nearby and as the Diet charges its jump engines the device fires up and stabilizes the wormhole allowing the Diet to transfer through without the use of their jump engine, although the system on the other side is useless, with not a single planet to its name. This device causes The Congress to approve research into this Jump Gates for their own use, and the one at the jump point is “Confiscated” for further research.

...because America can't be bothered to properly teach us to understand Celsius. -sigh-

You get a +1 for that.

I'm enjoying reading along.  I don't have the time to play anymore so I get to have fun through reading your (and others) fictions that you write.  Keep at it.

Ohh, thank you I didn't know that. I have the calculation for Celsius to Fahrenheit memorized, because America can't be bothered to properly teach us to understand Celsius. -sigh-

in the options display of the "System Generation and display" screen you can change from SI to your imperial measurements also you can change to Kelvin if you like ... just in case you calculated the temperature yourself.
