You have found the permanent solution.  If you have a secondary monitor that is to the left of your primary monitor, Windows assigns it negative x coordinate values,  the visual basic that Aurora is written in cannot handle negative values.  The solution is to either run aurora on the primary monitor, or switch your monitors so the secondary is to the right of the primary.

Hello people,

I don't know what on Earth (or any other planet) I am doing wrong, but I can't seem to switch to another colony.    I have for example created an auto mining colony on Faye and put 7 auto miners on it, but when I open up the Population and Production window and click on Faye, it doesn't switch.    I'm playing version 6.  42. 

EDIT: I have found a temporary solution: I had the window on my second monitor.   Moving it to my first monitor allowed my to switch another colony.
