« on: October 07, 2015, 05:01:13 PM »I'm currently using Star Trek Federation style naming for my ships and the classes, every time I design a new class I chuck it into a name file with as many canon/non canon instances I can find. Currently the classes included are.
Akira
Apollo
Constitution
Defiant
Hermes
Monach
Nova
Steamrunner
Anytime I add to this list I will put update the zip for anyone who wants it. I have got all these ships with the USS prefix simply because in my current game I tend to only name the class & ship of military ships, thus it makes things easy when looking down a list.

« on: January 27, 2014, 11:46:19 AM »I've decided to move to doing one file per navy at this point, both to ensure lists of reasonable length and to cut down on the amount of work required. Here are lists for Brazil and Spain.
However, when I went to do Turkey, I found the data more or less pre-sorted, so I did two, one containing combatants (I know it says surface combatants, but due to the amount of overlap, submarines were also included) and the other one other vessels.
Also, I'm still taking requests if anyone wants a specific navy done.

You will find names like Berk, Chadwick, Dalgliesh, Dunnigan, Gygax and Zocchi.

The list is currently formatted as XXX-###, with the intent that you'll do a find and replace on the XXX, then import it. Steve, don't add this one to the database.

I've added a partial list of US Army transport ships. (At one point during WWII, the Army controlled more tonnage than the Navy). That list may well be added to. Also, a very incomplete list of American forts, which won't be added to because it's 550 names. Also, a list of various British coastal fortifications. It started as a list of the batteries of Gibraltar, and is named thus, but it also contains various permutations on 'fort'. It's been cleaned up a bit, and the names standardized to make sense in Aurora.

« on: October 03, 2013, 11:06:29 AM »I've recently made a few new lists, and found a problem with one of the old ones. Due to insufficient cleanup, the Victory-class list had indents after most of the names, which I've removed. I also attached a list of the various C1, C2, C3 and C4 cargo ships of WW2. The last two lists are of US Army and US Air Force Bases, primarily intended for PDC use. RAF bases are in the next post.
