It was the dawn of the age of the Empress, the age of the Iron Men had ended in fire and now a new lord of Humanity arose. Holy Terra had united in her cause aided by the arrival of her Soritas and Astartes followers their origins unclear these women and men had superhuman abilities and weapons generations ahead of anyone else. But finally the planet was united.
Then they began to build a fleet and army to unify the rest of Mankind under the Empress and crush the Xeno’s who threatened beyond the stars. The Empress taught that the jump points between the start were what allowed the terrible curse of the daemons to infect the iron man exposed as they were to Hell. Only by stabilising and purifying each jump point could man safely travel beyond Sol,
This is what started the Great Crusade early. The Empress sensed that the fools governing the rest of humanity in the Sol system had begun to build their damned jump engines, there was no time to build up the Crusade fleet further. Four great Battlebarges of the Astarted and Soritas rose up from Luna to join the Crusade fleet and preparations for war began.
Discussion in the councils on the war strategy was heated. Chancellor Malcador argued for more time to persuade and subvert the other powers Warmistess Kali of the Valorous Heart argued for instant assault on all 4 powers and the use of planetary bombardment to bring them to heel, the Empress vetoed both plans she would not tolerate bombardment of humans or the spread of the jump taint. Finally the Lion El’Jonson leader of the Dark Angels plan was accepted the Vice lords of Venus would fall first and once they were defeated it would be determined what resources would be needed for the others, despite a desperate plea by the the Traffic control and monitoring department to kill all other ships the Lions plan was accepted after all Venus was within Missile range of Holy Terra.

The forces of the Astarted and Soritas are seperate from the Imperial Navy and Guard . Their technology is more advanced and they appear to originate on Luna which is off limits to all except them and the Empress. No signs of life can be seen from Terra on Luna.

System setup has 2 Billion pop for the Empire and 4 NPR's on Europa, Mars, Venus and Mercury each of which was terraformed to human habitable. The NPR's in Sol were created with 100% difficulty those outside with 450% , the Venusians have 148 assorted ships and EM and thermal signatures of Venus is about 90% of Earth that seems typical for all the others except the Europans who are smaller

Quite an interesting setup! Just a little note - I believe it's Sororitas if you want to use the faux-Latin term that Games Workshop does. What level of genetic modification are you using for the Legionnaires or is that a secret to be revealed in the story?

I Often spell things wrong, I'll try and correct in the restart. Legionares had and will have advanced genetic engineering.
Unfortunatly none of the NPR's have any ground forces so I need to mess around and do a restart making sure they have ground forces.

I believe that you still need maintenance supplies to repair combat damage, this may also include damage to weapons during firing.

In the few engagements I have had under this set up no weapons have failed. Repair is definetly an issue. These fleets though were built to fight in the Solar System so they should be able to limp back to Earth for repairs, they are too short ranged for real interstellar operations

Ah, the excitement as a new AAR comes to the boards... this seems a thinly-veiled WH40K analogue and I am certainly in favor of it!
This is what started the Great Crusade early. The Empress sensed that the fools governing the rest of humanity in the Sol system had begun to build their damned jump engines, there was no time to build up the Crusade fleet further. Four great Battlebarges of the Astarted and Soritas rose up from Luna to join the Crusade fleet and preparations for war began.
Browsing the rest of the game setup, what strikes me is that defeating four equal-sized NPRs before any of them can start jumping around the galaxy is a tall order. It will be interesting to see how this goes!

As others have mentioned, you still need a bit of MSP to do repairs. Even for your initial low-durability starting ships I would suggest having 2x the MSP of your engines, as battle damage requires double MSP and this will hopefully allow you to fix a single engine to limp home without needing a tug, if you lose them all.
As traditionally WH40K ships have Aurora-impractical allocations of weapons, I shall not worry too much about these...colorful ship designs. :P I of course absolutely approve of the ridiculous sizes. The Cobra class with 260 launchers may turn out to be a bit...dominant, given the incredible power of box launchers in Aurora, but the missiles are rather slow so it may balance out alright.
The forces of the Astarted and Soritas are seperate from the Imperial Navy and Guard . Their technology is more advanced and they appear to originate on Luna which is off limits to all except them and the Empress. No signs of life can be seen from Terra on Luna.

On second thought, the solar system may be small potatoes.
System setup has 2 Billion pop for the Empire and 4 NPR's on Europa, Mars, Venus and Mercury each of which was terraformed to human habitable. The NPR's in Sol were created with 100% difficulty those outside with 450% , the Venusians have 148 assorted ships and EM and thermal signatures of Venus is about 90% of Earth that seems typical for all the others except the Europans who are smaller

The version of the Battlebarge was slightly overkill, the next version is the same size with a bit less advanced technology. The Later Cobra's also have less missiles , in any case as there are no reloads available yet they are being saved for special occasions.

There are no Freighters, Mining ships, Fuel Harvesters or Colony ships as using them until the Solar system has been secured seems impossible. Boarding shuttles will make an attempt to recover any such vessels Heretics have produced , The commercial ships are heavily armoured and mount CIWS systems as it seems likely they will attract missile fire at some point and may not be under the guns of the fleets or forts

It is widely considered by many Remembrancers that while the Unification was was both necessary and ineveitable and that the development of warp technologies by the heretic states of the Sol system was pushing for the launch of the campaign that other events caused the war to start early.
The precipitating event may well have been the release of a new Tri-D entertainment system by the Vice Lords of Venus, the series 'Secrets of the bedchambers of the Empress' had notable performers cast as the Empress, Lord Rogal Dorn, Lord Lion El'Jonson , Lady Galadrial and Lady Mary Webster the 4 commanders of the legions but all records of the show were destroyed during the invasion of Venus with the studio being an early target of the Order of the Bloody Rose who annihlated the buildings and employees of the company in a 'regrettable incident of collateral damage' caused by the only orbital strike launched by the 'BBG Iron Requiem during the campaign.
Despite its precipitate luanch while the 3rd Guard Rifle Corp 'Euras' was still being trained and the ships of the 2nd Crusade fleet were still in the yards the campaign went well. The Vice Lords of Venus seemed unnable to believe that the Terrans would dare to attack them as they failed to respond to the Combined Legion forces and 1st Crusade fleet moving to around 166k from Venus

Hopefully this one starts off bug-free this time!
I note that your fighters are using the reduced-shots railguns to mount 20 cm rather than 10 cm, of which I heartily approve as this is clearly the correct use of the reduced-shots feature, rather than making piddly 100-ton fighters with 10 cm peashooters.
I've actually noticed that the best use of the feature seems to be mounting large-caliber railguns with reduced shots on capital ships. The downside is that you do mount a smaller broadside and thus alpha strike, however you can easily mount the capacitors to fire a massive railgun every 5s thus allowing, with a sufficient investment into reactors, an absolutely devastating amount of DPS.

The NPR's most definetly have ground forces this time. There was another setup inbetween where they did not, so this time Extra player controlled races existed on each planet long enough to transfer ground troops to the NPR's. No doubt this time they did spawn their own troops and I have now made conquering them that much harder
I nearly had the Kinetic Frigates and Planatery defense batterries with single shot 20CM rail cannon, you can get a lot of them and I suspect that over the reload time of the full size gun you may actually get more shots from the equivalant size of single shot guns firing every 5 seconds. I never even considered 10cm guns on the fighters this is the Empire even 20cm guns are really a bit puny, what is missing I found was a chainsword attachment for the fighters so i could fly over and hit the enemy ships.

And a new fatal error. While setting up the weapon directors of the ships I have broken the Index on the table storing them. Ooops

I nearly had the Kinetic Frigates and Planatery defense batterries with single shot 20CM rail cannon, you can get a lot of them and I suspect that over the reload time of the full size gun you may actually get more shots from the equivalant size of single shot guns firing every 5 seconds.
I've checked and you can get more than double the DPS by using single-shot railguns of large caliber as opposed to full-size, due to being able to use a smaller capacitor and still get 5s reloads. You do lose about 25% of the broadside to accomplish this, but this is probably negligible compared to more than doubling the DPS. I'm actually a bit worried that this might become a new "meta", although as this is a single-player game it is not hard to house-rule about it and it does allow heavy guns to contribute more effectively to point defense which may reduce the dominance of box launchers.

No it is me and C# based databases. I am at work trying to debug one and that database has been curse with disasters for over a year, clearly whichever mirror I broke on the head of a black cat under a ladder can cross computer and database boundaries

The setting looks interesting but, uhhh... is there a proper intro planned? Because the opening left me severely confused and overwhelmed, like thanks to the later posts I eventually acknowledged there are humans living on Earth, Mars, Venus, Europa and Moon and the four later are about to fight with the ones from Earth, but that's about it... The intro felt way too rushed and overwhelming with a smegload of stuff mentioned at once. It felt as if I suddenly started accelerating, with both speed AND acceleration increasing to the crushing amount of Gs. Please have mercy next time, I can't handle such amount of info dumped at me at superluminal speed.
