So I complete my first ship and send it to Mars. As it leaves, Earth surrenders.

So I'm pretty new.   I've built a mass driver, but it isn't doing anything as I have no other colonies, and until just a moment ago, had no ships either. 

Starting from a conventional start, I completed my first spaceship in late 2027.   I gave it orders to pick up 3 geology teams and then head to mars and drop them off and set up an extended orbit.   Then I advanced time by one day from the research window. 

Basically, Earth and everything there surrendered. 

So what I'm wondering is exactly why Earth surrendered, along with every ICBM base and my new ship, when said ship left Earth to fly to Mars.   I'd ask if it was a feature missing an indication of what actually happened (someone shot at the planet and it didn't say so, or there was a mass driver accident (except I have only one, it's on Earth, and it has no orders), etc), or a bug, but the fact that there isn't actually anyone for them to surrender to and they still belong to me tells me that it's bugged regardless. 

Also, my ships that were under construction are.  .  .   gone.

The random injuries and deaths in the middle of the log are completely normal.   They happen on a daily basis since I hired 5000 dudes at the beginning of the game.   Peculiarly, I seem to get the same amount whether I advance time by one day, five days, or thirty days (and I have the construction cycle time set to 86400).

I think (and very possibly can be wrong) that when we ran a test on officer advancement rates Steve concluded that officers were only calculating advancements, illnesses and deaths once for each time increment and not once for each cumulative 5 day increment.  The idea was that it should have been one month meant 4 chances for officer updates and it was only doing it once.  I think the reverse was also true.  One day increments were calculating individually instead of waiting till 5 days had passed before calculating.  I think this is something that was going to be addressed in the next update.  I digress, my memory is terrible though.

As for the concessions, umm, wow.  Do you actually have that many missile bases?  Provided the game is still advancing correctly and not otherwise bugged you can use the SM mode to complete your under construction ships at the rough time frame they should have been completed anyway.  Doing that you can maintain the flow of your game without setting you back due to a game bug (this is why SM mode it is there, Aurora still has many bugs to work out)

It will take more experienced players than I to tell you why the concessions happened.  Beats me.

I was not informed of any combat or anyone being detected, and I was watching the event log (but not the system map thing).   I am still playing just fine some time later, and it hasn't happened again yet, so there's that.   As far as I can tell it mostly just erased production orders for ships and industry on Earth.   If someone did invade, at the very least Earth should have detected something (I hope) since it does have a deep space tracking station (strength 300, level 1).   At least, I assume it wouldn't be possible for someone to sneak onto the planet undetected and somehow cause it to surrender without touching any of the low-tech / conventional military units on Earth, or the ICBMs. 

I started with around 7 billion population on a conventional start (500 million sounded rather low), perhaps that influenced the number of bases and military units? Alternately, conventional start meritocracy? I don't know, honestly.

Hm, this "surrender to yourself" looks suspiciously similar to the bug around fighting robot guardians from ruins (when the robots inflict actual damage on your population, the populations seems to think they belong to the robot guardians and, being hit, surrender).

Of course, there usually are no ruins on earth and even then, you should get a combat message about it.

Just throwing this out(no clue if this is the case): the threshold for population to surrender overflowed when the pop went too high.

I've had higher population than that before with no problems.
